Getting ready to pull the trigger in the next few weeks.

Dealer has a TRD O/R and a TRD Sport. Ive read several of the differences, but I wanted to get some opinions considering i do intend to mod quite a bit

My plans are to change the grill, put in a 4-6" lift and new wheels/tires (thats just off the top). I won't be off-roading with it. Is there a reason I should choose the O/R over the Sport?

Also, the sticker on the Sport is $34,590 (double cab, AT) - is there a number I could expect to get this down to?

If you're gonna redo the suspension and change the wheels then go with the sport. Also are you getting a 4x4? If you don't plan on going off road much there's no reason for crawl and that's just another electronic part that can break.

I lived in Buffalo for a few years 4x4 is smart lol. The whole draw of the OR over the sport is the suspension and crawl. Since you're upgrading the suspension just go with the sport, doesn't have the Tupperware fenders.

Off-road has the 'better' brake booster, if you're going to tow or haul.

Some people do it just for looks.

I traded my 15 trd sport for my 16 trd or. At first I thought I had really screwed up. After a lot of online searching and1600 miles later I'm glad I did. It still has its quirks that I don't like. But overall I really like my new one.

I have a sport - if you are not going wheeling I'd go with the Sport. The OR has a locker rear which is nice for wheeling, not sure how it would help in snow ..... Why lift if you're not going off road?? I think this truck has decent clearance to get you out of trouble in snow even a few feet of it without lifting. I live on the NE and we get the 2+ feet snow storms all at once instead of the 2" every day thing like the OP.
That said I'd get the OR FOR ME, but I go off road in 4wd at least once a week.

I went with the sport due to the OR being access cab only in canada and stock with new KO2's i took it everywhere my friend's lifted 2015 offroad with locker went. Obviously I scrapped a bit but the sports are still very capable out of the box, not to take away from 2015's or the lockers but in your case it sounds like the sport is the better choice :)20160507_092830.jpg
