My GF is planning to by a 2016 Taco. We'd appreciate some advice.

    True, however there was a time back when the TRD package was first offered on the first gens where you could get a four banger with the TRD e-locker, didn't last for long though and they are a rare find these days.

    The 2.7 was great in the 1st gen regular cabs, but not great at all in any 2nd gen.

    I don't do mud so no haha. That I can see, but a locker is where it's at for rocks over chains lol. Nobody I've ever wheeled with here has used chains other than for snow.

    Buy the best equipped stock truck you can afford and keep it that way. Don't cut corners or settle for less. Your living most of your life in your work truck. Would you want an uncomfortable chair at work? Want to go back to a 10 inch monitor or slow internet connection. Spend the money and write it off. Lease it and trade it in every 3 years. You won't be buying tires and brakes or nothing but a couple of oil changes and fuel. Buying the best will keep your trade in value high.
