    Going to rattle can the bed cage. Think I'm going to plastidip the rtt shell then coat it with rustoleum spray on bedliner, that way if I don't like it I can just peel it off.

    Will it hold up with a 2 tons of tree falling on it? I don't think so.
    But seriously what makes this "hard shell top tent" better than a regular RTT? Are they less expensive? Quicker to deploy? Just currious as Expo is coming and I want to check out some stuff.

    Reviews are great, no personal opinions as of yet since I just took delivery of it today.



    Yes interior height is less than in a regular RTT, not sure what measurement is but I'll get that and post it for you tomorrow.




    I decided to go with a hard shell after owning several other regular RTT's due to simplicity and ease of deployment and stowage. Although it's not hard to set up a regular RTT, I got tired of always taking cover off, unfolding it, setting up windows, setting up annex, and then when wanting to leave having to go through the reverse process when putting it away. This pops open in 5 seconds with 4 gas struts. Also, my regular RTT's always seemed to develop small tears in the cover which then allowed water to leak in on the RTT. This hard shell will not present that problem at all unless I puncture a hole in the fiberglass shell. No they are not less expensive, close to 2 - 3 times the cost of a regular RTT, but for me it was worth it. The mattress inside is probably twice as thick as a mattress on a regular RTT and it is a memory foam mattress too!

    got ya. seems like some pros and cons. like you, I find the tear down process of an RTT annoying.. but.. I take it for what it is. thicker mattress would be nice, but less headroom is a definite concern for me anyways. really curious to your review and input on it once you get some time with it!
