I finally removed the brake line bracket and got an open end wrench on there with a persuader on the wrench to turn it...when it finally freed itself a little bit used a swivel head and a socket to keep it moving and turning the piss out of it to make sure it was completely free.

Then, like someone mentioned used a punch with the hammer and it finally came out!!

Thanks for ALL the help guys!

Guess I am going to have to post pics when I get the ICONS in.

Well, the driver's side worked, passenger side did not.

Turns out they were/are rusted into the bushing in the shock. No way to spray PB in there...

I even cut the bottom shock mount open with a grinder and then whacked with a hammer, still nothing.

I guess I am going to take the lower control arm out tomorrow and cut both ends of the bolt off and start over??

I am going to let it soak overnite and give it another shot on the morning.

If not, take off the lower control arm and cut the bolt off?

I had the same issue, complete with the bending of the mount tab. I had to cut the bottom of the shock off, then the bolt. After it was replaced with the bilsteins, I made a reinforcement for the mount tab and welded that in.

I was thinking this morning that I would have to weld in some reinforcement triangular tabs to the mounting tabs. Any suggestions about how to straighten the mounts out first? Did you remove your lower control arms?

I was actually very surprised at how easy it was to bend the lower mounting points with just a few blows from a hammer!!!

I am trying to figure out a way to cut this last one out without removing the lower control arm?? The shock has written all over it warnings about it being under pressure and fire risk...can I cut thru the shock anywhere safely beside where I have already cut?

I was suprised how easily it bent, too. I was lying under the truck wailing away with the hammer, thinking I was making progress since it started to move. Wrong! I just cut the eye off of the bottom so that I could get a better shot at the bolt, no problems there. I bent the tab back with a hammer, made a triangular reinforcement, and welded it on with the control arm still attached.

I ended up cutting my lower shock bolt with a saws all metal blade. First I hammered a pickle fork between the shock bolt head between the frame and shock side to free up space to fit the metal cutting blade. Then I cut the opposite side and pulled the shock out. I think the original bolt and shock corrode/sorta weld together. Not that I expect to ever have to replace a shock in my tuck again (2002 TRD 270,000) I did put anti seize along the Bolt where it slides into the shock. I bought the bolt from Toyota because it was more convenient and no fuss worrying about exact size.
