My names Corey. I really do not know much about working on engines and or anything else associated. May 8th 2016 I purchased an 88' toyota xtra cab, for 2.5 days of owning the truck it ran like a champ. Then on the 3rd day it would start but would then immediately die. So my old SGT lead me to this forum to help get answers if anyone has any

Maybe a mod can move the thread to an area with more traffic & you can get more feedback. @sean266 @tcBob

Thank you all for the welcome's! I have read up that it can be the mass air flow sensor, throttle position sensor, clogged catalytic converter, carburetor, or electrical grounds. i also live in apartments with obviously no tools or knowledge for this issue. I am trying to have a few of my friends with knowledge come over during the weekend to try to help. Has anyone else had or had a friend have this issue before?

After you start it and it fires up, right before it dies try giving it some gas (in neutral) and see if that keeps it going a bit longer. If so, you might be able to narrow it down a little, possibly a fuel delivery problem.

The heads are notoriously bad on the 3.0. they tend to warp easily.
Any issues with noise/suckling sound when you're trying to crank it over?

I can't say I've noticed anything of the sort I'll do a start up tomorrow and see if I hear anything. I have noticed trying to give some gas I hear popping sounds sometimes

Good catch. I didn't realize it was the 3.0. This might be the problem.

What's your coolant look like? Normal or milkshake-like? Check for any debris as well.
