nikon camera = problems?

i bought a nikon coolpix s570 from crutchfield online and recieved it about a week ago. last night as i was about to take a picture of a REALLY big piece of equipment i loaded on my plane it stoped working. the lens is stuck out and when i turn it on it says "lens error" and its a white screen.
any ideas? its brand new i tried blowing any possible dust out, removed the battery anyone know what might be up?

 

Hummm.......I have used Nikon equipment at home and work for years always found it to be very reliable. I would contact Crutchfield ASAP. I'm not sure what their return policy states. They will probably try to shuffle you off to a Nikon Repair Center. If the camera was damaged during shipping, I would think the Crutchfield would stand behind it.

 

yeah ive had several nikon cameras in the past and never any problems. working on sending an email to nikon repair department now.
