New update version for 7″ Touchscreen Audio System? (Canadian version w/o Entune)

Hi,

I am a new onwer of a Tacoma 2016, I live in Quebec, Canada.

I like my new truck.... but a little disappointed by the audio system, especially since I see all features of Entune were removed for Canadians.

I know we don't have HD digital Radio stations in Canada .... but nothing prevents to take the data on my cell phone plan for traffic and others Apps ....

That said, I noticed some bugs in my current version of the radio




In audio mode button, the RDS (Radio Data System) information work good on FM stations:




But in split mode (Home button) the RDS info isn't available:




But I see it in the dashboard:



There is a way to correct this by a USB upgrade?

There is also the French translations that are very bad!

for the Outside Temp.. They are translated ''Outside'' by ''Dépasse'' (''exceeds'' in english lol) instead of '' Extérieur''

For HOME page, this is translated by ''Domicile'' instead of ''Accueil''

They should have used at least Google Trad .. it's better than them

 

There are no updates for the model yet, and they are usually only issued for major problems, not convenience features.

The 14-15 Panasonic Nav units all got updates for a bluetooth connectivity issue, but I've yet to see one change any features. You wont see any released to the general public either.

Also we do get some HD channels, we have one in Calgary, it even shows a picture of the artist just like Sat radio.

 

thank you Bishop84 for this info. For HD radio, I thought it was stillborn in Canada, due to the cost of installation and the royalties for use this technology.

but despite all that, there must be way to put the US firmware version in the unit?

I think it's the same hardware on both side.


it's probably a sword in water, but for the patches in a future update, there is a way to report this issues to Panasonic or the hardware department of Toyota? You never know
