Hey guys I just wanted to share this story about my accident last night and the huge part that my Cooper ST Maxxs played

Last night they not only saved my life but kept me from being stranded after. I had a rim lose pressure on a gravel road and send my truck sideways into the side of a one lane concrete bridge. Not only did the grip and durability keep the truck from going completely over the side after direct impact on the passenger inside with the bridges small wall, it then survived and managed to go 2 miles on a gravel road totally flat while on a severely damaged rim suffering no damage. When the truck slid it was gonna go over the side of the bridge until it caught that already flat wheel and hit the small barricade bouncing the truck back on the bridge enough to keep it from going over. The rim was destroyed and I winched the truck back on the road. The two miles after wards were done in this state and weren't exactly smooth but the tire held together and got me to safety. This morning's inspection by discount showed the rim had failed with the tire in amazing shape after its trial virtually no damage. Discount replaced the tire and rim free of charge. Discount tire, and especially Cooper, just earned themselves a lifetime customer.

I emailed Cooper this story with a special thanks to their engineers for designing such an amazing tire and wish they had a rep here to thank. Still yet to determine if the axles damaged.

@Discount Tire Direct thank you guys for your fantastic customer services as well from your employees here in town. You guys helped make a really rough incident go alot smoother

Me too. The way everything happened was a miracle.

Inspecting it today I found my bed/frame is super warped, my strut and axle are damaged and my driveshaft is also marred and bent. Now to see if I can fix it or if it's gonna get totaled

Here's some pics for you guys

EDIT: due to confusion let me clarify, the chunk out of that wheel is from the impact, that is not the original failure point as far as I know.

Is now yeah. The trucks not driveable. Mostly just there to keep the truck off jackstands and from testing the hub

That rim is crazy! Makes the miracle seem even more magical now.

So, initially was this a wheel failure, or a tire failure?

Initially a wheel failure from what we could gather. The tire just had no damage anywhere that indicated tire failure

Ok I work for discount tire and do you see that little tear on the tire that's where you lost air from there. That's how you had a flat. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR AIR PRESSURE

That tear on the bead was where the impact happened on the rim (shoulda clarified that) and is why it's marred. That was the only damage we found.

    What brand rim is that?
