Recently joined the RTT gang and didn't like the roof rack look so I started looking into bed racks. I was mainly looking for 3 things:
    1.- Cost efficient
    2.- Keep usable bed space
3.- Keep the tent low enough to not get complete shit gas mileage and wind noise.

So naturally the easiest route to go would be to buy a pre manufactured rack from somebody such as Allpro, Warrior, or Thule. But I decided against all three for various reasons.

    Allpro- Cost

    Warrior- lose bed space

Thule- Quite frankly I just think they are pretty ugly. Also they would put the tent above the cab of the truck which would kill gas mileage and create a ton of wind noise.

Another thing all three of these have in common is that they mount to the bedsides, which I didn't like. I understand that it distributes the weight well but I felt like it would be more sturdy to go to the bottom of the bed. So that left me with the options of

    1.- building my own
2.- have a fab shop do it

And since I am probably the worlds worst fabricator and a good friend of mine is one of the best, I decided to have his shop build the rack exactly like I need it. I had only see one other rack like it, and it happened to be on here. So the one picture from on here was all we had to go by. The only thing that I did add to it that I actually haven't seen on here was 4 LED lights that I wired into my tails for more of a flat bed type of look. Check out the build and let me know what you guys think. BTW: the rack was fabbed and powdercoated and installed for less than $500.Image1463424609.655720.jpg
