Tires Milage

I searched and did not find what I was looking for so maybe you guys can help. I'm trying to decide on an all terrain tire versus a mud terrain tire. I do some off roading but mostly street use. Just like the aggressive look of the m/t. The main thing I'm looking for is how much difference in overall tire life and gas milage there is.

 

That's the tire I've been thinking of switching to. Are you happy with them? Did they change your gas mileage?

 

i have the bfg KM2's that i use on the highway everyday and i love the ride they give...yes, there a little much for what i use my truck for but i love the agressive look, but to answer your question i still get around 300miles to a tank w/ city driving and most say you can get around 40k plus out of these tires,,,also im running 285's

 

IMO, you have three options - GY Duratracs, BFG All-Terrain TA KOs or BFG KM2s. All three options give a Tacoma an aggressive look. I love my BFG All-Terrain TA KOs. The next set of tires I may run will probably be the Duractracs.

Yep, go with the AT tires, they work just fine off road, and they are cheaper, I just got some GT Radial Adventuro 2's, 4 for 563.00$ mounted and balanced and they look excellent. 265/75/16, gas mileage is a little worse I think but they are new so not sure yet.

Let me add - they don't give the road hum of normal MTs. I cannot tell I am running MTs while driving. Plus, I have a tough aggressive tire for those times I do want to go in the mud or rocks. And finally, I have run over nails, screws and thorns that would give me a flat in a normal AT. Not flats in these yet.

 

I have the Definity Dakota MTs from Pep Boys (rebranded Cooper Tires). They have a 40K mile warranty on them. They're cheap too ($139, buy three get one free, 285/75R16). I don't think they have much in a 17" wheel though.

 

im running mitchelin ltx mud/snow they hold up well in the mud and snow.. theyre very quiet on the road and last forever!! if u rotate them like you supposed to you can get 80k +

I just bought a set of General Grabber AT2s. They're highly rated on TireRack (like the Goodyear Duratracs), but they're about $40/tire less. I like them so far, but it's only been 3 days...

Nope... 265/70R16s... standard size.

I have a set of LT 265/75R16 Yokohama Geolandar AT/S load range e tires on the tacoma right now. They just turned 30k miles and have only lost 3/32nd of an inch in tread depth. Excellent tire in the rain, and performs great off road too.
