    Hey Guys

So I decided to post this up here since ya'll are the experts, the past 3 days I have been having some weird issues when trying to back out of a driveway or rotate the tires while creeping about in a parking lot (mostly parking spots). Its a weird sound and also seems like the engine looses power while trying to move the tires without having a load on the engine. I can kinda hear it when sitting a red light waiting to turn, this video is of this morning when I got home from work (I work nights). I'm just turning the wheel (while in park) slightly to the left and right when you can hear the engine make a click then loss of power. When you are in the cab with all the windows up and doors shut it sounds like a bad whine or moan noise. I checked the power steering fluid and its sitting just below the max line, any ideas?

    Thanks

Definitely not a noise P/S should make. Not any system that I know of at least.

The engine speed drooping is normal for pretty much every P/S systems out there, you put a load on the pump to turn the wheels and the load on the engine increases, causing the idle to droop a tiny bit. Listen closely to pretty much every car in a parking lot ever and you'll hear it. Unless it has EPAS or a manual rack.:p

That clicking noise and delay of the droop, not so much. Get to your dealer for warranty.

Check P/S fluid levels? Apparently Toyota has a reputation for low fluids.

Frankly I'm surprised Toyota hasn't implemented electrically assisted steering on this truck. I have it on the Mustang and it's orders of magnitude better than conventional power steering.

Could be power steering pump going bad. Mine did and it was replaced under warranty by toyota.

Had a dumb moment and didn't check the fluid when the engine was on.
She was low on power steering fluid. No more noises. Just glad it wasn't anything major.

I would keep checking it. And look around for signs of a leak. I've never had it get that low in any condition.
