Hi im new to this forum, but ive been thinking about doing a swap between the 2000 4runner limited awd and my tacoma body. Has anyone heard of doing this? Essentially id take the cab and bed off the tacoma chassis and mount it onto the 4runner awd chassis. Information would be much appreciated. Also, i currently have a 2.7l i4 and the 4runner i want to use will have a 3.4 v6. Any information on this type of swap would be great. Thanks again.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Now that is ambitious. Good luck!

Well the overall goal is i want to lower my truck as its 2wd currently and turn it into a badass street truck. Plus ive wanted to replace the i4 with a v6 for added power. But its just an idea.

there are cheaper ways to lower your truck than putting it on a 4runner chassis

I didn't realize that 3rd gen 4runners came in an all-wheel drive configuration. I thought their 4x4 systems were the same as a 1st gen Tacoma with a transfer case and low range.

Yeah the limited version came with optional awd if i can find one then thats what i want to use. I feel like the 4runner frame and tacoma frame are similar so thats why.

4runner is the same height. Actually the entire front suspension is the same.

Theres a 4runner in town with the centre diff and it isnt a limited.

Actually the centre diff probably bolts in place of the transfer case...

Very ambitious indeed. Do you actually know the difference between AWD and 4wd? I can't think of a time when I'd want AWD over the latter. Unfortunately I don't have any helpful information for you. I would love to see this inquiry extend into the builds forum. Good luck!
