You won't like it if you drink only that for about a month. I screwed myself on that one now I'm disgusted when I see it on the shelf.

    Way to go me. Moron.

Any of you fellow North County guys go up to Deer Springs? I keep hearing about it but don't know much about it. Do you just enter from behind that Arco by the 15? And is it private or public? Any legal issues with hitting that trail and what is the difficulty level?

I've gone up a few times lately, I go up the San Marcos side off twin oaks. It is technically 'private property'
It is owned part by the water district and part by a real estate Corp that wants to develop it into a huge towncenter/housing bullshit. As long as you aren't doing anything illegal, you shouldn't get hassled up there.

AKA: LW (Lawrence Welk) you can get there behind the AM/PM or up the road a bit behind the nursery, the trails vary, plenty of mild stuff to play on..

Yep...I get sketched out whenever I drive back there from the road. There's always dudes or big rigs parked there giving me a weird look when I go back there

get prepared for some solid pinstriping...one section is pretty overgrown and a jeep can barely squeeze by. My taco got smoked in that one section on the trail. I was thinking about some clippers or something to cut the brush back. All the rain this spring has it pretty over grown.

How is that problem solved? Gates on roads and trails are locked all of the time - fora variety of reasons. Up here there are seasonal closures for weather, wildlife migration and calving, along with permanent closures for misuse/abuse of the areas. Cutting locks and forcing your way in will only ensure one thing - more stringent laws and more closures. Don't like that a trail is closed? Contact the governing party and ask why and what could be done to open it back up.

I don't think you want to take any trail recommendations from him....

You seem to be leading the way...
A locked gate is locked for a reason. Its not up to you to decide to undo that.

Its not that we discourage someone from standing up for themselves we discourage people from breaking the law. Most of us here enjoy the same things - getting out in our trucks and exploring. When done responsibly its great. When one wants to break into closed areas or tear up trails without any regard for the next guy it becomes as issue that concerns us all. Its only takes one person to ruin things for everyone else.

Plenty of shit talking going on at meets too, you've never attended a TW meet I take it? No one that I've ever wheeled with would tolerate your behavior.

Hi I'm Lisa and I've planned the majority of the Montana TW meets over the years....and I tend to discourage folks who blatantly ignore the basic rules and principals of "tread lightly" from attending our meets. We don't need that kind of publicity. I hope you guys feel the same way.

How's this. This is the second time your postings have been brought to our attention. A lot of us here take the privilege we have to use the trails open to us and follow the tread lightly ethic, I for one fully support it. Not to mention it's illegal and goes against the Code of Conduct for TW. Considering your lack of discretion and consideration for others, including landowners I, and the other staff feel it's necessary we exercise our better discretion and remove you from the site.

Yeah I'm like who this guy smacking off. We are pretty friendly in person in this area even people who thought I wasn't going to get along with. I wasn't going to talk to him. That was apparently the same as talking to a wall.

I posted some Google Earth views of the trail, we have called both "The Welk Run" (It is across I-15 from The Lawrence Welk Resort), and "The Drug Airport" when someone thought the one straight stretch up there looked like a runway for drug drop offs.

I have a least one good dent on the underside while wheeling up there. The Twin Oaks Valley access was well gated last time I tried, but the access from the left side of the cul-de-sac past the ARCO station worked.

Here are some photos after the satellite maps, reposted by imsikotic: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/welks-run-drug-airport-saturday-7-apr-12.213618/

Awesome! Thanks David. I'll go bump your other thread as well to see when we can set this up. I may be able to do an early run tomorrow morning or possibly Sunday afternoon. I'm tentatively set to go climbing next weekend, but otherwise I think I'm pretty open in the coming weeks.

I didn't report him. I figured we could flush him out with stuff by jumping on another topic by having AZ guys post some funny memes.
