I was just saying I think it is crappy to have to pay for something that is due you in the first place. By the way I was not being critical of what you did and I'm not fighting your f***ing battles. I personally don't give a sh!t if you paid the dealer $1000 for your "free" oil change and really getting it done right and therefore "satisfied with the outcome." I was only speaking for myself and would feel like I was being screwed paying for something I felt was their responsibility! FWIW..the tech didn't check my fluid via tech stream. He said that was not an accurate way to measure fluid levels. Also, that was not the dealer that sold me the truck. Damn, I'm contradicting myself! I did give the tech a gift card to a local restaurant for him and his wife so I didn't get the warranty work and fluid checks for free. I just like the way he handled my situation. Bottom line, you paying $85 extra and me giving a gift card still doesn't insure it was "done right."

I understand what you're saying and I'm not trying to pick a fight or be a dick.... you're right, those trucks should be coming out of the factory and off the dealer lots with fluid levels at the required amounts, wheels balanced, factory alignment complete... as close to perfect as possible. But if you as the customer are not satisfied with the way they do it (tech stream, visual inspection or simple test drive) and you want them to use a more labor intensive process, you might have to cover the additional labor or work something out with the service or sales manager to roll into the deal.

If I buy a truck but felt unsure about the wheel balance based on the amount of weights seen on the wheel and not how it drives and I directed them to remove the tires and re-balance, I would expect to pay for the service even though the truck likely came from the factory with properly balanced tires. Yes I can try to get it covered for free in the deal or just pay the cost for additional labor but either way, it's been checked again in the method I directed and now feel satisfied it was done properly.

Ha, I had a 2010 4Runner, the year after I bought it I noticed a small bubble or rust on the tailgate. I also had it repainted under warranty. Guess I wasn't alone with that issue!

Maybe you misinterepted my initial post, transmission fluid and diff fluids were correct from the factory, not under or overfilled when inspected.

I'd probably mention it at my first service. However, with everyone so worked up about it I may at least ask the dealer to check it upon delivery. It'll be sitting there for a few days before I can get there, so I'll at least ask, but I'm not going to stand over their shoulder while they do it! I don't wanna be pegged as a total prick upon my first trip to the dealer...
I have no idea, but it's possible the fluid level check isn't a very accurate method. Maybe you can determine the level to a +/- 1 quart level. If that's the case, that would explain why people are reporting fluid shortages all over the range...

1st service at 5,000, 10,000 or when Toyotacare authorizes it; 15k for u joints and 30k for ATF.
See where I'm going with this?
I wouldn't call it ocd; I'd call it prudent.

I have already bought the truck and a happy camper. My truck has 0 issues not a hiccup. Yes you can feel the road and some vibration from it, but that's expected on a truck it's not a sedan or a luxury SUV. I might check the tranny fluid and diff along the line but If I have a failure, I have 8 year Toyota bumper to bumper warranty, so I'm not too worry about it.
