    Hello:

I just purchased my first Toyota. I had been driving a 2002 RAM 1500, but couldn't get it to SMOG so I traded it in on a 2012 Tacoma V6. The Tacoma has all the power that the RAM V8 did but handles a million times better and gets much better gas mileage. I was totally blown away by the Consumer Reports ratings. I am a musician and plan on hauling my instruments around in the Tacoma, so I am interested in putting either a Camper shell or Tonneau cover on the bed so I can keep the stuff in the bed and not have to unload and reload every day. My first concern is the absence of a locking tailgate. My tailgate latch also houses the camera for the backup video display, so I'm not sure how to convert to a lockable latch without paying $2000.00 to the Toyota Dealership. Any help on that and recommendations for Shells or Tonneaus would be appreciated. Also, I have an automatic transmission but I can't find any way to check the Transmission fluid level so any help on that would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Howdy welcome :hattip: check out Pop-n-Lock, they make aftermarket tailgate locks for our trucks. Basically it replaces the handle you have, and works with the backup cam. they also have a power one too. More will chime in i am sure, I dont have experience with either a topper or a tonneau
