My thoughts exactly. I trained for and completed The Broad Street Run in Philadelphia. 10 miles in 2 hours. I am slow but I ran the whole distance. Well it was a running pace for ME anyway.

    None, yet.
A bit overdue but here's an update on the Bix. It was an absolute blast! If you're even thinking about it, do it! Davenport is a beautiful city. The spectators enjoy themselves while cheering on participants. Can't wait to do it again.

My official time was 1:04:28. Shaving off minutes will be easy - start closer to the front. Navigating traffic ate a lot of time especially in the first half.

Nice time on the Bix 7. I'm training for the Marshall University Half Marathon in November. I can make the distance I just want to get my time down some. Currently hovering around an 8:30 pace at the Half Marathon distance.

Newbie on this thread! Anyone ever dealt with chronic fatigue/over-training syndrome? If so, how have you been dealing with it and any tips on what might have helped? I used to average 100+ miles a week running, but struggle with 50-60 anymore. Thanks!

I haven’t run as much this year (grad school, horrible Wisconsin winters (though I did run a few times in below zero weather, that was interesting), horrible Wisconsin humid summers (90 and 70% humidity was too much for me) but have run a couple longer races in the past.

Really want to get back into it when I move back to Albuquerque and get to run in the mountains again!

I have dealt with over training quite a bit but not to the extent of it crossing over into overtraining syndrome where I’ve had to take excessive time off (excessive being more than 2-3 weeks).

I’m a hybrid athlete who wants to do everything so I struggle to balance properly.

I have started to train based on HR for my running and focus a lot on that to determine if I’m going overboard. I also push myself into doing the 80/20 rule and keep the majority of my runs super easy. I have found if I truly keep my runs easy, I can run into infinity. (Infinity being 40-60 miles a week while power lifting, 100 miles a week is impressive to me).

Thanks! Good call on zone training. I have a naturally high aerobic rate, so it's always challenging to find what "easy" pace is. I am back to 3 "key runs" for the week (intervals, tempo, and a longer run). I really enjoyed some HIIT at some of the local gyms while recovering from some various running maladies. I have always enjoyed hitting the weights... due to COVID, I've been skipping the gym and started to accumulate some equipment at home... I usually hit the weights harder in the Fall/Winter... I think that all has helped with injury prevention. I'm hoping to make it back to Boston again, but it's frustrating not being able to run like I used to just a few years ago.

Life long runner here. 30 years of Soccer, High school Cross country and track. My furthest race has been a 15k. I try to stay around 10 and 5ks due to the time the traing takes. My Wife has done two 1/2 marathons and all the distances below.

I’ve been living in Wisconsin for grad school and haven’t run as much as I used to. Turns out I can’t stand city running. I don’t miss running. I miss mountain running. But soon I will be living in Albuquerque again and am going to pick it back up. The handful of races I’ve done were mountain races. It’s always been about exploring new places and seeing the views. Of course living at sea level and moving to 5k feet elevation is going to kick my ass :anonymous:

I just got back into running after years of hating it. I was a really good runner in the military but quit running as soon as I got out. Been putting in quite a few miles lately and for the first time in my life, I’m actually enjoying it

I'm training for a couple 50 mile ultras coming up in December and then July 2021.

This is my first time branching into ultras, my previous experience has been mostly marathons and half marathons.

Thanks to COVID and not having my typical second part time job bartending I have a lot more time to dedicate to training and I'm really enjoying logging all the miles I am. Having quite the time.

Interesting thread. I run as much as my feet and back allow. Typically min 3 times a week about 4-6 miles each time.

7 miles this after work. 5 of em timed and did a 9:08 pace. Not bad for just chilling and not focused on speed or anything. Enjoyed some Red Hot Chilli Peppers too turning it.

Got 6.25 miles in today. Jammed on and cruzed with some Blink - 182 for my tunes.

I’ve signed up for the Beast of the Beacons, the 20 miler. Thinking about the 40 next year if I’m here. It’s the end of this month, I’ll do ok but definitely not breaking any records

    https://www.sientries.co.uk/event.php?elid=Y&event_id=7280

The Beast of the Beacons is my test for the Keswick Mountain Festival 50K in September

    https://www.keswickmountainfestival.co.uk/event/50k-terrex-trail-ultra-marathon/

I’m averaging 30-35 miles a week. I’ve hit 45-50 miles per week but always develop a hamstring pull or calf pain or knee goes gimpy. I’m working on my weight, gone from 230 in December to 195 now. I’d like to be 185 by September but the weight is coming off really slowly now.

Here’s me at the Adidas Terrex Cotswold run, 23k this May
