Installed my Toytec BOSS lift kit Saturday, had a shop adjust the coilovers a bit today because we didn't fuck with measuring the height before we removed the old ones.

Next will be a roll bar to put my 4 KC lights on, and some meatier tires, maybe 33s, haven't decided.

Took mine into the dealer to have them check out the whine that I hear when I am between 50-60mph. Sounds like I am going to be getting a new rear differential gear assembly soon.....Hooray.....

Pulled the front grille to make a pattern for my mesh grille. I'm not buying anything I can build. Especially when I already have a sheet of 18 ga-5/16" punch plate laying around. Plan on making tabs on the punch plate similar to the ones on the factory grille insert to attach it or I may use use machine screws through the tab slots in the grille surround. Don't really like the glued in option on the CCG ones.

I think i successfully made a "build page". Take a look if you're interested. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/louies-build-2016-trd-off-road-double-cab.417631/
I had a 2013 and bought the same bracket for a Gen 2 from relentless fab. It was great for a CB. Different bracket is needed for a Gen 3 and i just don't like how it will look. But from a functional standpoint, this is a great solution. CB antennas work better close to the hood rather than in the bed. They need that flat hood surface.

Also. get the spring to allow for some flex and you can also get a quick release to remove the antenna with no tools. I did all this using Firestik brand gear off Amazon.

I'm currently focused on recovery and protection. Skids, sliders, jacks, etc. Questions:

Toytec Boss 2.5 in lift and 32.5in tires. which HighLift should i get to jack from the rock sliders? I'm buying the rock slider adapter thing for the jack, but wasn't sure if the 48in or 60in jack is needed? Can I just do the 48in?

I'm also buying the highlift recovery kit - http://amzn.com/B00042KQ58
What other stuff should I get for recovery as far as straps, tow ropes, etc.? There are a lot of choices for straps, ropes, and all that. Don't know about length, strap vs. rope, and weight rating.

I'm mounting a shovel and Axe. So that 's covered.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Dealer found my auto transmission fluid in my 2016 TRD Off Road 4x4 with tow package 3/4 quart low @1500 miles.

They also were happy to add grease to 5 zirks and check differential levels and reset memory. ( I already performed the u-bolt check and torque)

Toyota of Poway, CA service writer John S. was great to work with and understood TW ability to root out real problems.

I gave them a single sheet of paper saying what was problem and what I wanted them to check and how. He said "big thanks" and just attached my list of to do's to the work order that said "see attached".

Isn't the hammock supposed to be in the shade and the truck in the sunshine so you can look at it while lounging around? :D

I'd like something less permanent because I still might not keep the truck. These trips will help me decide, and then I may move it to the hood area.

Took my Tacoma sr in for it's 5000 service it was at 8200 miles I asked if they could do the 10000 mile service but they said no. Well I watched as they brought the truck in an preceded to do the service. I vidioed it and it took about 15 minutes and they took a flash light and looked under the truck checked air in tires, rotation and never checked the diff fluid level. Did not see a tourqe wrench put on the lug nuts just ran them in with impact. Then put truck down and pulled it up front.I got burned on the last service on my TRD offroad. They said the checked the u-bolts they did not. I went on a said out loud I will never bring any my Tacoma's back here. Well that sturred up everyone.manager came out and head tech came out. And pulled my truck back in and are following a paper on extream conditions and are doing oil change and checking every thing. And doing the update on tranz that I ask the first tech to do and he didn't even check. Well note to all watch your truck. It is a real shame that you can't trust the dealer you bought 3 vehicles from. Glad they stepped up and are taking care of it. But we will see what the offer me for the trouble I just went threw.

Note I gave to my service writer below:

    ***********************************************************************************************************
My Name My phone. 2016 Tacoma TRD Off road 4x4 with tow package.

    Vin - xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Symptom:

    • Intermittently - Transmission slips/stutters for just a second or two while in drive going up slight incline. In my driveway, from a stop pulling into garage. Sometimes warning light flashes for an instant during slip.
I did a Google search for this symptom on this and found that hundreds of folks have the problem of auto transmission being ½ to 1+ quarts low on 2016 Tacoma off roads with tow package built Sept. thru April.

Dealers found that Techstream did now show any errors on transmission. Needs manual ATF check.

    Request:

    1. Manual check of Transmission Fluid Level. If low please let me know how much it takes to fill. (Takes up to 2 hours to check as have to wait for fluid to be at certain temperature. Check process is now different for 2016 with tow package)

    2. Please check Front and Rear Differentials as well. Many report low as well from factory. (if low please let me know)

    3. Please lube all 5 grease points as they look dry and others have had same problem. Spicer universal joints.

    4. Any TSBs or software updates pending.

    5. No car wash please.

    Thank you – Bruce .
