5 inch tuff country lift, adjustable bilsten 5100's. Toyo MT's on 16' wheels. Magma flow muffler. Viper alarm/auto start. Moog sway bar links, tie rod ends and lower control arm bushings.
So I jacked the rear of the truck up to take a look at my brakes. Took wheel and drum off of the drivers side. It was dirty/dry seal lookes like it was leaking a little . Maybe a 16th play in the axel in and out. No up and down play.
I had the passenger seals axel bearing and abs ring replaced a few months back with Toyota oem parts. Found that that passenger seal is all ready leaking and my brake shoes or gone. Same amount of play . About a 16th in and out and zero up and down.

I pulled my breather cap on the diff. It was fine and is not clogged.
When I spine the left or right axels you hear a clicking ?????

I grabbed the drive line and moved the U joints to feel play. Them seem all right
When I grab the center carrier bearing it has over a half inch of play in it , so I know that's out also.

Where to start with the rear end?

Does a trd with the e locker make that sound when wheels are lifted of the ground?

So the clicking sound is coming from the diff not the hub/bearing area?

From what I can tell yeah . I pulled the right side off cause I was hearing a click sound when I hit my brakes at times and also when going around tight corners I hear a shhhh. Shhhhhh shhhhhhhh sound. Only tight corners on country roads . Then I figured I would pull the right side to clean it and found my new baring seal is leaking . This trucks been a nightmare.

How can I lock the diff and do that. The e locker only can be locked by push button when the truck is in four low

if you thinks it's the diff and not the wheel bearing, drain your fluid and see what comes out. There's a magnet on one of the drain plugs, see how much metal is on it.

Put it in 4L with the trans in neutral. You need to do the gray wire mod btw

Gray wire mod or 2lo mod.

If it still clicks when locked that would rule out sloppy spider gears.

So I got everything back together and when driving it down the rd you do not here any clicking. when up in the air you do. When I hit the brakes I get noise like there is lots of tension. Any more thoughts . I'm not comfortable doing a gray wire mod.

Grey wire mod is easy. Cut 1 wire, crimp a connector on it, and there's a bolt right next to it. You run that wire to the bolt(ground). Then, you can use your locker whenever you please.
