Adding truck vault in the bed

Im currently working with Truck Vault customer service on putting my in bed truck vault together. I was curious from the experts here what i should to for the rear leafs with the added 200lbs? i have the Toytec Progressive 3 AAL..should i change that out to something else? Plus i may be adding a bed cap also, but not 100% yet. Suggestions? Ideas?

I carry a couple hundred extra pounds plus a topper. I've been running Firestone Ride Rite airbags with my stock springs. It's been good enough, mostly. I was even able to add air to match the rear height with the 2.5" lift I have up front. I just placed an order for OME Dakar leaf packs with the add a leaf. I think I'll keep the air bags too.

Shocks are key. I have OME N182 and I'm very pleased with them.

 

I have bed drawers that are 200+ lbs, camper shell, RTT, pipe shower, etc. that add a lot of weight....looking like 1,000 extra lbs. I have the Dakar leaf springs, icon 2.5 rear shocks plus the firestone air bags that I keep at around 28 lbs for driver and 20 for passenger. It works great, other than the obvious slowing down of the vehicle, but I want to add the OME

So i have the TRD Pro suspension, and have a set of air bags sitting in the shop not yet installed (been sitting for about a month). i was looking at the DAKAR leaf pack yesterday after you mentioned it and im about to pull the trigger on it. Just making sure i do the right thing the first time. But now i dont know what to do up front? can i add anything to the front TRD Pro coils besides the toytec 1' spacer? im sure im going to need something. Between leveling off the truck if i do the DAKAR leafs, plus stuffing KO2 285 under her. Im ganna need some room.

 

Does the bottom bracket for the air bags work okay with the Dakars? I'm concerned about the lower support not reaching the axle and bending the bracket over time. I did also order the add a leaf with my Dakar packs.

Edit: I'm already running Daystar cradles.

I would suggest being prepared to alter the front shortly after seeing how much lift you get from the leafs. Maybe adjustable 5100s? I have 2.5" of lift up front from 5100s now and am going to order 885 coils soon - I'm doing a bunch of front end work anyway, so I figured I might as well.

 

Firestone sells an extension plate that attaches to the air bag lower bracket. I believe it is made for the Tundra, so I cut it down and welded it to the lower bracket. There's nothing fancy about it though, just a 1/4" plate with an arc cut in the bottom to rest on the axle. I'm travelling for the next few days, but will try to get a photo of it later this week. I actually looked for this solution too as this is my second set of air bag lower brackets...they were bending from the weight before, but no issues now.

 

I get exactly what you're saying. Thank you! I'll look into this. I just rolled across a scale today with the truck "empty" and it weighted 5840 pounds.

Edit: DCLB curb weight is supposedly 4220 - my access cab must have started life lighter than that even...

 

Ok, now I feel a little better! I am in the middle of planning a dual battery setup too, which is going to put me right there with the new batteries...definitely am looking at the Dakar add a leaf, but will keep the air bags. Attached is the firestone catalog sheet with the extension brackets.
