Well, to start with I can't haul more than 400 pounds in the bed without an inch and a half of droop. With absolutely nothing in the bed, not even the toolbox... The leaf springs are completely straight. No bow in them at all. Are my springs trash?

Well the springs were designed to be straight with no load, however since your truck is 10+ years old they are probably pretty worn, mine were pretty bad when I was putting on my lift so I got an AAL instead of shackles

Maybe not trash but could nearing the end of their life. These leafs really dont have much arch to them even when new.

One of the sites favourite oem replacement pack is the general spring hd pack.

Well, if I'm replacing the springs, I'd like something with an extra leaf or something so I can handle heavier loads.

The HD's are going to give you a 2 to 3 inch lift.

I would suggest, going to a automobile and truck spring shop. Not just a neighborhood auto repair shop.

The auto repair shop will have to get the new springs from a spring shop anyway.

Trucks are always getting spring service; just due to the nature of their work. Try to find a shop that will do small trucks too.

I know on this forum you will hear a lot about AAL and over the counter springs.

Don't add, AAL to worn out springs; unless you want to waste your money over the long haul.

Go to the spring shop and tell the what you want to do with the truck; and the will make a set of springs custom for you. Also tell them what kind of ride, you want out of the truck.

You will be further ahead, at the end of the day.

    Super Springs
In the old days back in the seventies early eighties most spring shops would custom build just about any rate leaf or coil springs you wanted .

I know of no spring shops that will do that anymore (around here) not sure if it is because of insurance or labor costs

I was told by one spring shop it was not even worth there time to order springs others gave such a inflated price it was cheaper online with shipping to my door .

I like my General Spring heavy duty springs they work nice with my Super Springs

If it gave my any lift I sure did not notice

My General Spring HDs gave me quite a bit of lift. Of course my OEM springs were completely shot, negative arch, so I don't know what the factory ride height was.

Penn Public Spring, in Altoona PA, will build what ever you want.

Made a lot of springs for us.

Not a salesman for them; but just saying they do build up springs for about anything

They are vehicle specific, not universal. Make sure they are the correct ones before you buy. If they are correct, grab them! They are over $300 new.

I think the installing of my Super Springs was the best thing I ever did to any vehicle .

Like was said They are Vehicle Specific .

They are not a patch they need good leaf springs as well

For the use my Truck sees I love them .

Empty ride is not to bad I can easy load 1000 pounds in the bed and tow another 2000 pounds

The general HD's give no lift. If they do ots because the current old springs have sagged that much...
There are a ton of guys tjat run the OME spring packs, the dakars. They are lift springs though of course, but for the price they are a great spring!

Wheelers offroad is a great site too if you havent checked them out. Great prices and have alot of taco and runner goodies!

Look at this pic and then tell me they don't give any lift. I stand by my comment. They give a 2 -3 inch lift.

Looks like it put you back close to factory rake and with every new spring pack you must let them settle...is that front suspension old and squatted way down too?
