Hello everyone - just got a 2009 Double Cab 4x4 a few weeks ago down at a small dealership in East Mesa. I don't do much in the way of heavy offroading or anything like that, but it will be nice to be able to get to a shooting spot in the desert with air conditioning for a change (my old truck had none, making summer drives tough).
The truck is in nice shape, but it's not without its issues - when I bought it, it had a very unpleasant smell. I'll see if I can dig up the photo of the cabin air filter and the rodent's nest that came out of there. Once that was out, the truck smells fine now. :D Constant tire pressure failure light - I'm still on the fence about whether to just disable or attempt to fix.
The truck is pretty much stock with the exception of the wheels. I have some plans that I'm sure I'll need advice on - here's a quick list:
    1. Side steps - already purchased Body Armor 4x4 side steps and planning install this weekend (my daughter is only 5 and has a tough time climbing in so I think the steps will help).
    2. CB/FRS radios and amp(s) - I have been looking at a LOT of CB installs on this site - I'm sure I'll be stealing some ideas from some of you.
    3. Additional lighting - ditch lights, a light bar and some supplemental reverse lights. Even though I don't do any serious wheeling, I still would like to ensure I've got enough light to get to a decent camping spot.
There's plenty of other stuff I'd like to do, but this will keep me busy for the first few months. Thanks everyone for already helping me with issues I've solved just by searching this site. Look forward to participating in the Arizona BS threads, also.
    Take care!
    -Terry

    Welcome!

Jump over to the AZ BS 5.0 thread. We are a friendly group that does mod day, get togethers, trail days, and camping trips. Plenty of Mall Princess and super trucks to drool over. We are our own special kind of crazy.

CB is decent, but there is a push to get more on Ham radio. Many pluses and relatively easy to get your license.

Excellent - I look forward to meeting some of you then!! Also, I agree - Ham radio has many advantages and I've been wanting to get my license for a while now. I already have a Midland CB (model 79-290 IIRC) that has the control unit modded to also operate in 10 meter mode (admittedly, I've never tried it so I actually don't know if it works, plus I have no license...). I'll see what I can do about getting some photos up shortly.
