been trying to snag a 26 for a while, never in stock online.....

 

Appears to be coke and water bottles, test is invalid, must have beer to be a proper real world test.

 

Day 2

Coolers were restocked last night. Was able to break up the ice in the 26 to get some drinks under the ice but also put some on top too. Without getting a BFH, I could only break a few inches of ice on top in the 73 so not a lot went into restocking it.

This morning:



The water in the 23 is just under that top layer of ice.

 

Is this day two?

 

I assume you have the plug still in the bottom of it so it holds water?

Damnit! Now I know why the balcony is always wet...J/K! Yes the plug is in and tight.

 

well some people leave the thing out so that their water drains out! I deal with that daily actually. we use coolers on our boat and theres a pretty big difference in ice longevity with and without the plug in. apparently the people I work with don't understand that when the plug is out, hot air can get in and as the water drains out, hot air gets sucked in through the lid to fill the void. its a constant battle haha

 

Understood. Logic and critical thinking are a rarity nowadays.

 

The ozark trails 30 oz cup held ice as long as the Yeti. I did an indoor and in the hot truck test on both. They both weigh the same, same cup and the lids even interchange. The biggest difference? Yeti=$39.99 and Ozark Trail=$9.47
Both cups had the same exact melt rate. I have a few Yeti products and really like them but this is ridiculous.

 

Yeah but, air is way easier to cool or heat than water. Does a blacksmith dip his red hot horseshoe into a bucket of air to cool it? There is a big debate over this, seems if your goal is to cool drinks quickly leave the water, if your goal is to save your ice for as long as possible, drain it. You don't leave the drain completely open, just loose enough for water to seep out. Here is some light reading on the topic:

true, but it seems that our coolers keep ice longer when we just keep the water in there. this could just be any number of reasons, but its what it seems like with us.

 

@dan0mite I've got a yeti roadie (20qt) a 35q and a 165q if you want to test against Them since you arnt too far

 

Dear Lord. I know nothing of Yeti, but that sounds like $1,000 in coolers.
