will buy new vent visors for my 2013 tacoma 4-door. Which type are better, tape-on or in-channel?

    Also which brand? AVS
Doesn't want to buy the cheapest and they fade or break

I bought weather tech in-channels and like the look better than the tape on ones. The tape ons will separate after a few years. However my driver side one cracked a little in rear corner and it screeches like mad when wet. It's quiet when dry. And make sure to leave the windows up after install for 24 hours.

I got AVS in channel. They work fine for me. I don't like sticking anything on the paint.

Would the in channel hold up in a car wash?

I am sure they would in a machine wash too. They are in there pretty good. I have the WeatherTech ones.

I have had mine on for over a year now and have had it through the soft touch and the touchless car washes and have had no problems with them at all.

EGR in-channel on the truck and WeatherTech in-channel on the car......no issues with either set. WT's on the car are 8 yrs old or so. No fade, no crack, no noise, no nothin.

I don't know what brand. My first in-channel visors and will not go back to stick on. They are almost 3 years old and holding up very well. If you really want to know what brand I can go look though.

Just looked and they are AVS

I have researched this fairly extensively since buying my Tacoma last Sept. I will be getting ERG's in-channel at some point. Almost everyone says they work as expected. The "complaint" rate seems very low. In my experience buying items online, when 90% say it's good the 10% whining/bitching error'd either in install or being dicks to customer service.

I bought a set of retros, so this purchase got delayed. But they're in my Amazon cart waiting patiently.

    Good luck!

Going strong on 5 yrs with my in-channel AVS. No issues with all types of car washes and more importantly dog's heads constantly sticking out the back windows!

I like the look of the in channel ones better, but I feel like I get more air flow with the stick on ones. I have had my stick ons on my 2010 now for 7 years in August, and never had any problems with them coming off. Maybe I just got a good set, cause the same brand (avs) on my wifes car I have had two of them start to peel off in 5 years.

    Thanks all for your reply!

Have seen some reviews and it looks like the weathertech are a bit better than AVS, but they are also twice the price. People say that AVS tend to have some (maybe invisible) imperfections.

Do you think is better to spend the extra $40-50 bucks in the weathertech?

No imperfections on my AVS. Can't go wrong with AVS, EGR or WT really.

in channel beats stickers in terms on longevity and looks if you ask me, every time...

The only complaint I have with the in channel, and I am sure not 100% everyone suffers of this, as there are many variables, is the possible noises you here, since after all it is plastic on plastic, there are a few solutions for this as well if you suffer from it.

I got the back window cross cover to match - and it is tape or else - even the "good" brands have to be. Two-Sided Tape Sucks.........

Weather Tech in channel for me. Hold up fine in the car wash. Completely happy a love being able to crack the window and get some dry air in the rain! They were a gift so $0....

I don't like the look of the stick on types - to me they look like an after thought. Looks even worse when they get stuck on and they're crooked.

AVS in-channel fan here. Amazon for like $30 IIRC (Access Cab).
