Huh... we went down the right side and while my rear bumper touched coming off some rocks, I didn't smash anything. we also came down in the little rain storm that happened early in the week (think it was Wednesday last year)

This will be my first Moab trip also. After reading the fun treks book and some forum posts, my bucket list is:

    Hells Revenge
    Fins & Things
    TOTW
    Kane Creek
    Cliffhanger

I doubt I get all of them this trip, and would prefer to hit them with someone who has been there before. I'm rolling in Tuesday afternoon and will be ready to roll Weds morning. If anyone has a similar wish, I'd love to join in.

Kane Creek and Cliffhanger are no joke. I've often heard of wheelbase issues on Kane Creek, and Cliffhanger just scares the **** out of me lol.

Are you locked front/rear? Hell's Revenge is fun and has challenging optional obstacles. TOTW is just scenic without much difficulty at all.

Cliff hanger and kane creek I'd recommend atleast one locker and a decent amount of armor... kane is definitely worse of the two. Fun as hell, but some definite challenges and tight spots for 2nd gens.

I have an air locker in the rear, but I'm open up front. And I have a winch, sliders and the front three skids. And bumpers, but the rear is somewhere between factory and HC. Mid-clearance I guess. I don't mind beating on it since one of by bedsides is already dented and I plan to get a HC bumper at some point in time.

I really appreciate your input. If Kane & Cliff are not suitable for my limo I will avoid them.

Kane creek is intense haha. Crazy fun trail but man it's full of lots of pucker factor.
There's the, "oh shit I'm gonna wreck the side of my truck"

And the "oh shit I'm gonna roll off this ledge 12" from my tire and fall 1000 feet to my death"

Yeah I'm just looking at it... the worst part is my dad making my anxiety sky rocket! He freaked out so much last year. Even on TOTW.

I hear TOTW gets harder every year, so I'm interested to see how much it has changed from last year. I have to say though, that minus the optional obstacles, Hell's Revenge is about the same difficulty level if not a little easier than TOTW.

Would you say a tcase skid is a must for Hells? I ran TOTW in April and caressed it a little bit. The trail really didn't seem that hard other than the ledges on the way down.

I really really really need to quit procrastinating and build it already!

Anyone familiar with hole in the rock trail? I'd like to do a 2 day trail. Same question is tcase skid necessary?

I can't really seem to get a good judge of what TD calls a 7. To me fins and things was more of a 5 (maybe I took the bypasses but nothing looked too gnarly) and I don't think any armor other that bumpers was necessary and maybe with good lines a factory rig could do it.

I'm a bit late to the party, but I was hoping for a recommendation. I have a 2.5" lift, front bumper, 33s, and front/mid/gas skids. I need to drive home 1000 miles so Im not trying to destroy my truck, also first time to moab.

I think fins and things would be good but what are some easy trails to do? Thanks!

Nope. I've done Hells with no armor and just a 3 inch lift. Plenty of stock stuff going through there. The only technical stuff is near the exit after the escalator. Otherwise Hells is not really that hard, you just really need to watch where you're going and what you're driving into.

And if it hasn't been said, if you don't like pinstripes, don't do Kane Creek :cookiemonster:

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
All loaded and ready to roll at 0600. Only thing I haven't done is figure out which trails I'm doing (other than TOTW as a sponsor).
Thinking Kane and Hells. Perhaps Fins.
I'll be coming in fresh off The Maze, fwiw.

Would anyone believe me if I said I actually got 100% of my expected/proposed mods 100% done?

Nahh, I was stock last year and TOTW and Hell's were a breeze. Good tires with 4lo, level head, and a willingness to drop your truck on the trailer hitch repeatedly will get you through most trails.
I did TOTW and Hell's as well as the lead-in to Pritchett canyon stock with 33s and didn't damage anything. Even the 5000mi drive home didn't see any hardware failures!:)

I'm in a trail limo and have done Kane Creek. There was a pinch where I scuffed my rear passenger door a tiny bit but the climb on the other side of the creek was the toughest part, my rear locker helped me out a lot there. And my long wheelbase actually helped on that part. There was a guy with a bad-ass dual locker crawlboxed DCSB that had a much tougher time than me. Anyway It was a really fun trail and I think there was only a few bypasses I had to take due to my wheelbase.
Never done cliffhanger. Want to but just haven't had the opportunity yet.

I'll be there the afternoon of the 31st and leaving the morning of the 5th.
    Tentative plans:
    Wed-something fun and tough/scary (suggestions?)
Thurs- Fins (with my mom in her grand Cherokee)
Fri-maybe totw with the Colorado crew (if there is room and I'm welcome)
Sat-might not run anything, maybe hike or find a swimming hole, maybe an EARLY hells run, skipping extra obstacles.

    Man, you guys are lucky.

Not much up here in Ontario, Canada... and what there is, the Ministry of Natural Resources is starting to gate it all off.

Great thread, BTW. Lots of great info.

    Thanks, OP @Mach375 !

I'm sure it will be easy to find a group for the trifecta trails so I'm not worried about that.

I really would like to do elephant hill though. Would anybody be interested in that? It's in canyonlands so probably best to do it on a day that doesn't have an event back at camp. I've never done it before but I don't mind leading if nobody else wants to.
