they came in early.I had to put them on and try them.First impression,i turned the truck on after the install.it idled the same no difference.thought to myself ,guess i just have some great looking yellow coils. When i drove it ,Damn.coming from a 4.0 tacoma to this 2.7.WOW. crisper take off, exhaust became throatier.going around the corner feel when you step on the throttle a bit.it takes off with a little more umph.I wanted to see what it would do down the highway going over the overpasses and holding 70 miles an hour against the wind.today we have 30 to 35 mph wind gusts.i am happy it kept pace with the wind against it.before it would have problems going up the overpass with wind gusts in the same mph.she picks up a whole lot better.
took it to a dirt pit and put it in 4x4.now this little truck has never had a problem in the dirt in 4x4.its a mean little shit in the dirt..well i changed her name today to the digging armadillo.cause it just got meaner and more powerful in the dirt.hit the throttle on a freshly disc'd field and it pulled great.even better. If you ask me this is the best $183.00 i have spent on this truck.i can only guess what it would do to a 4.0l.i will drive it pulling my trailer with two round bales for my cows and we will see what it does with a good load on it.i will let you know.happy.:bananadance::yay:

You do know that Holley which has acquired Accel and other brand mfgs has just signed a deal to have all of their parts mfgd in China . Holley will still design & market them but all perf parts to be mfgd off shore

Now this may say hey why not then go with MSD !!!! , guess what Holley bought MSD just after MSD bought out MALLORY ign . So same thing it will be an off shore mfgd part

Sorry I'm not buying any chinesium perf parts , I'll stick with American made parts

Now if you want your motor to idle smooth and keep the plugs clean then look into a MSD 6A box or even step up to a MSD 7AL2 or MSD7 AL3

Like I mentioned HOLLEY bought out MSD , MALLORY and ACCEL that doesn't leave much for ignition mfgs that still build onshore . As for MSD boxes they do work with coil packs such as GM LS motors , Ford mod motors so I don't see why it shouldn't work on our motors

Hmm, you are right about Holley buying MSD but I have buddies that work there ( I did as well back in the day) and as far as they are telling me they are still making product at the plant in El Paso. My caveat is which product they will continue to make there I don't know.

Well, driving the coils for a week and no complaints.today driving thru a thunderstorm with high winds put the auto in 3rd and no lag,no drag,no hesitation.it plowed thru it with two inchs of water on the freeway doing 35mph.i was passing trucks with lift kits cause the visibility was bad and the road was saturated with water(rain x on the windshield it works).before with the old coils different story.with the old coils it felt like i was dragging a :deadhorse:.i am very happy.i have no complaints.

I'm just curious for those that have replaced the coils. Do you think it's because you've replaced worn out coils that you are seeing improvements? I wonder if you would see the same results with new OEM coils.

Actually. The only MSD box which would work for ours (you would have to run 2) would be the DIS-4. They are insanely expensive for the record.

Installed 4 accel 140495 coils on 4/21. 4 have failed. 50% rate in 7 months. Although wonderful improvement, already had to replace 2. Emailed Accel on issue and awaiting response.

You posted in a thread that ended well over 5 years ago.

The product itself could have undergone significant changes anywhere from design to manuf. to QC processes in that time.

Or you could just be unlucky.
