Is that you? The dmz grill with the light bar in it? Great looking truck

Just looked at your media page and I saw your truck on my way by, CB antenna on front drivers corner. Looks good, different rig a row over from you that I saw first though.

Nice meeting everyone, no CB antenna mounted on mine yet. But I do have rigid grill with light bar.

    Oh great dinner recommendation @PS78

LOL! You actually decided to try to pull the front plate off? That's awesome.

I couldn't at least take a look at the possibility. I had already considered it, and after talking last night I thought hard enough to open it up, but then I googled the Yeasu 857 and decided to invest my time in studying for the technician exam. I'll just get a smaller CB down the road or I can always wire up my midland handheld to the antenna if the size of the cobra gets to me.

I'll tell you the same thing I told Steve.

Yaesu FT-857D or Icom IC-7100 (if you're buying new)

If you're willing to buy used, add the Icom IC-7000 or Icom IC-706MKIIg (only the Mark 2, G)

I've got the 706MKIIg in my truck, and have owned two FT-857s in the past :)

    Yes.
on a completely unrelated note. A month or so ago I went to a Skywarn Basic, and then Advanced storm spotter training, and learned a new term "Flash Flood Alley". It turns out from Dallas down to San Antonio along the I-35 corridore is in Flash Flood Alley meaning I live there.

Anyway, last night my county got 10" of rain over night, and at 10am Central they expect the Colorado River to peak at 33' which is 10' over flood stage.

Is there any reason not to buy a used Yeasu 857 or Icom IC7100?

nope, used 857 is fine, the 7100 is a new enough radio you might not find any used.... If you can go for it :)

Hey @Lars thinking about getting these. Hopefully they'll be sufficient for CO mountains. Anybody else run these?

I wouldn't be surprised at all to find out that sainsonic makes the circuit board inside those. Which is the same company behind AnyTone, BaoFeng, and Wouxun.

I'm bringing like 4 talkabouts to rock therapy for around BFE talking handheld. They will work great for the event organizers to stay in contact :D

@CO MTN Steve glad you liked that spot, its one of my favorites around town. Sorry i couldn't make it last night i tried to convince the wife to let me go pick her up pizza's but she wasn't in the mood for that last night. It looked PACKED!!
