Just found this thread. Recently moved to WA in February with my 10 month old pup. It was just her and me, my new truck and my new job, new state. Laika, my Australian Shepherd passed away suddenly while I was at work about a month ago. I'm totally out of rhythm up here now, not looking for sympathy, it looks like a few of you guys have dogs and can imagine what life has been like.

With that being said I've been exploring some of Washington by myself in the truck, and would really be interested in meeting up with you guys for the Tahuya trip, for instance. I'll be catching up on some older parts on this thread in the meantime, my 4wd TRD OR is on stock suspension :(

I'm in Shoreline. Nothing too special locally, but it keeps me midway between work and beer. It looks like most of the guys here are in King/Snohomish, but does anyone have a recommendation for heading east over the pass? Particularly trail systems, fishing, or hiking?

Also, what tires are you PNW locals running? It seems like up here a balance between wet highway tire, mud, and offroad is a hard balance to find at times. Didn't overthink anything and just went with KO2s. The Nitto trail grappler M/T will likely be my next tire.

Thank you guys! She was a great dog, experienced lots of love. Here's a couple pics of the rig, the first pic she's not amused I'm paying attention to the truck. The second picture (most recent) was taken without my knowledge, but hey, she didn't scratch it up. Chalk it up as another point for skin tight latex.

Lots of hiking trails up and down I90 as well as Highway 2 (actually all over the state but these are probably closest to you). Here is a great resource to look up various trails and get trip reports:

    http://www.wta.org/

Tons of fishing in the state, make sure you get your license from:

    http://wdfw.wa.gov/

If your looking for hardcore 4x4 trails that is not really my forte, but there are a ton of knowledgeable members on here who can point you in the right direction. Having said that, there are tons of forest service roads all up and down I90 and Highway 2. Google Earth/Maps would be a good resource for that too.

Most 4x4 trails are on the east side, check out nwjeepn.com for all the trails.

Sorry to hear about your dog. That's tough. I'm in Shoreline as well. I always ran MTs on my rigs but because of the variety of on/off-road conditions we can have up here I decided to compromise and went with the Cooper STMaxx. I love them.

If you use Extra Car make a reservation online, it cost less that just showing up. Forgot about that.
