Yeah, was referring to the winch, glad to hear you like it. I'm looking forward to put it through its paces to get used to it before I actually 'need' it.

Been planning a dual battery setup as well. I didn't anticipate the amount of work that project would turn into, one thing led to another and I'm now deep into piles of hand drawn schematics. Figured I minds well build a solid foundation before I moved forward. If I were you I'd use the leftover 1/0 for some homemade jumper cables. If not I'd gladly take scraps of what you don't need, I'm sure I'd find a use for it.

Still playing build catch up, last weekend I dusted off the @Pelfreybilt swing out table that I had been hoarding in the secret gear cache. This will soon become one bitchen kitchen.

Yeah my dual battery turned into redoing the entire electrical setup I have. Plus while Im doing that, since Ill be removing a lot of interior pieces I want to sound deaden too. I have all the stuff I just havent gotten around to do it quite yet.

I doubt Ill have enough leftover to do jumper cables. Plus I have a lithium ion battery jumper which works great.

One thing always leads to another, which then snowballs even the simplest project into a huge project. My build is a true testament of that so I fully understand.

Been tempted to jump on the NoCO battery jumper groupbuy, even with a dual battery setup, things can go wrong. It's cheap insurance and peace of mind. Which unit are you using?

    Prinsu Install: Part 1

Things were going smooth... but like all projects, there was an inevitable hiccup.
I made a rather dumb mistake and skipped the first line in the instructions... "make sure you have all necessary hardware before starting".

I had measured everything a hundred times, made my marks, drilled the holes, then grabbed the hardware bags... no plusnut tool was to be found. This meant it was time to improvise so I grabbed one of the aluminum spacers, large pair of vice grips, a fender washer, bolt, and the plusnut. This hack worked for the first two holes, until the inevitable. I underestimated my own strength and sheered a bolt off into the third plusnut. I found it difficult to gauge how much I needed to tighten these things, it never felt 'tight' and before I knew it I heard the snap of death. My fear was that if I didn't tighten it enough it would just keep spinning inside of the channel. Well, that exact thing happened to the fourth... leaving me no way to back the bolt out or even tighten it further without removing the headliner to grab the plusnut with pliers. Next up, the fifth... I had caught the edge of a roof support beam when drilling this hole causing the inside edge of the hole to be thicker on one side. I didn't consider this when compressing the plusnut, and as I did, it started tilting to the side due to the uneven surface below. This wasn't going to work... feeling defeated I filled the holes with RTV, packed up shop, and headed home.

Contacted @zscott the next morning and and he quickly sent out new hardware with the plusnut tool. It's great working with folks that stand behind their product, thanks again Zach!

Now all I need is another shop day or a day without rain to get this install back on track.

With the aluminum spacers in place it's damn near perfectly level with the 180. :bananadance:

Wicked tread man! Really enjoyed reading threw it!!

I have a question on your rear flip kit with the all pro expo leaf packs. What much of the U-bolt threads were showing after you bolted everything up?

I ask because I have those leaf packs but with a timbren flip kit and the u bolts will just have enough to work but with no u bolt threads showing. Might have to get longer u bolts...

Thanks James, that reminds me i should really update the first page with links to skip to the meat of the build. Quite a bit of BS'ing to navigate through haha

I just went out and checked, hope this helps ya. Looks like I have 2" from the top of the leaf to the end of threads.

Trust me i know all about that. Sitting in my garage I have the dual battery tray, new bushings for the Dakars, wiring stuff for the upgraded electrical setup, steel plates for boxing in the rear frame, plus Im sure some small stuff Im forgetting lol. O yeah how coul di forget the air tank and air stuff....thats only been in the living room for 2 months now lol.

I have an older NoCo (GB30) which is listed as a 400a 12v model. Its worked fine. Ive had to jump the truck twice. Once the lights would come on it just didnt have quite enough juice to start. Hooked it up and it started right away. The second was totally dead. NO door beeps when open, no dash lights, nothing. Hooked it up and tried to start and nothing. But turn the unit it on and left it for like two minutes then tried again and it started right up....although a bit sluggish of a start but it started.

Looking at the prices in the group buy its kind of meh. Unless Im missing something he said its 30% off the MSRP on the NoCO website? Which means you would save all of 10 bucks (plus tax) on the gb40 vs Amazon's price.

One thing I will say is to make sure you charge it monthly or so. It does drain slowly. I know some people say the charge lasts 6months to a year but Ive found after 2 months its drained a bit so worth charging back up to full. Easy enough to do just have to remember ot do it lol

Haha yep! we're gear hoarders... probably wouldn't be if we had more free time.

Ten bucks off Amazon's price is okay, still it's not a valid factor to jump in without already wanting one, but it does take the edge off. Good note regarding it draining when not in use. I honestly hoped it would last a bit longer, and knowing me I'd forget to bring it in. May have to consider adding another circuit in the cab to keep it peaked.

haha dirty camera lens = bling bling shine off everything. Yeah man I'm stoked on the rack, just gotta finish the job! When you're ready setup a craigslist alert for a canopy, the deals will come.
