You might want to check into that.

ARB Specs state: on at 135 PSI, and off at 150 PSI.

    • Pressure switch controlled air manifold system regulates pressure between 9.3Bar [135PSI] and 10.3Bar [150PSI] suited to air tools and all ARB Air Locker equipped vehicles.

I wondered if they might be different when I typed that. That's why I added in the 200 psi option, since some of the Viair will run to 200 psi.

I have the single and it's pressure switch is 70psi and 100 psi.

It's listed under Specs on the last page.

Yea tanks aren't for everyone. I have one because my ARB locker runs off of the OBA system (mostly Viair parts).

The only other benefit I use the tank for is when I know I'm about to air up my tires, I'll turn the compressor on during the last part of the trail (or when I'm getting out of a trail to get out of camp, and onto the main road). That way I have a head start with filling up tires.

Also if I need to take a piss or do something while I'm airing up, I can step away and not worry about the compressed air.

Very interesting! Thanks for that. I wonder why ARB used a different pressure switch for the single compressor version.

Another option for 200 PSI is the Air Zenith OB2 air compressor. 100% duty cycle @ 200PSI.

    http://shop.air-zenith.com/200psiob2-black.aspx

I almost got that one, but the ARB put out more CFM and I wanted max speed for filling tires.

Well, they claim the dual can run air tools right off of it, but based on the specs you surely want to add a tank for some reserve to run air tools and a tank at 150 psi is going to be a much better reserve than one at 100 psi when most air tools need 90 psi to run. So basically to make it handle air tools better since they claim it can.

Hey all, just got my ARB CKMA12 compressor. I want to mount the compressor in one of the cubbies in my bed. Obviously the ARB harness is way too short (about 8 feet) so I'd like to extend the power and pressure switch wires. Problem is I'm a wiring novice and have no idea what the connectors are called or where to find them? The primary use for the compressor will be for filling ride rite bags and fly fishing pontoon so the rear mounting location would be most convienent. I went with ARB because I'm still undecided if I'm going with a front locker. Here's a pic of the location. And the connectors Im talking about. Thanks! Any help, input or advice is appreciated.

They are Molex style / branded connectors.

I'm almost done with the wiring. I did a test run to make sure it works correctly and test for leaks. I fully expected to have some leaks, but lucky for me there are none.

The fill rate on my tire from 20psi - 40psi was 2:08.

    Real clean setup.

What are you using as an air source? Can't see it in the photos.
Those quick-disconnects look pretty vulnerable, though. If you do any rock-crawling, they could get snapped off.

    Nicely done.

Yeah hopefully they don't break off. Di t see that happening though, if it does then I've probably got bigger problems lol. Air source is the mv50 red compressor

I went with the ARB twin like others have.

I did not have room for a tank so I made a pair of sliders and now the driver side is my tank. It is isolated from the ARB solenoid manifold via 2012 Peterbilt fan clutch switch. If I puncture the slider, I shut off the switch feeding the tank, allowing me to retain locker capabilities.

I put the air chuck inside the fuel door... keeps it clean.

Lots of cool ideas here. Good thread.

    Sounds neat!

Pretty neat. But, x2 on the location of the quick couplers. With the scratches and dents on my bumpers, for sure those wouldn't last on mine. Also, remember the MV50 does not have 100% duty cycle

For the guys that are mounting their compressors in the storage cubby with cutout, back side of cubby, in wheel wells, or any other location prone to high dust volumes - has it presented any problems?

I just bought a pump and need to do the install. The cleanest seems to be mounting on top or bottom of drivers side cubby and leaving the cubby available for the hose / fittings. There is a ton of dust exposure though, possibly even some exposure to water.

Mines under the hood with plenty of dust and some water exposure and haven't had any issues with it.

I had my mv-50 mounted upside down underneath the cubby for 2 years. Just took it off today to repaint the rusty outside cover. Compressor has been covered is mud, dust, water with no issues.
