Finally had the time over the long holiday weekend to remove the last of my chrome.

My Tacoma just after purchase, note hideous chrome wheel covers:
    b1.jpg

    1st, chucked the wheel covers:
    b2.jpg

    Next, derped front emblem:
    b3.jpg

    Next, debadged sides and tailgate:
    b4.jpg

    Next, derped grill surround:
    b5.jpg https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...gen-tacoma-today.6499/page-4309#post-12264981

Next, prepped and painted wheels and back bumper:

    End results:

    Post-paint celebratory cigar and beer:

Did the wheels and bumper with one can of Rustoleum ($10). I'll see how long they last, may have to bite the bullet and shell out the cash at some point for real black wheels and bumper; but for now, my inner artist is pleased, and my inner cheapskate has been transported to new heights of giddiness!

    Did the headlight blackout mod.
As others have mentioned one basically has to feel for the bottom outside light mounting bolts...
    b12.jpg

inside bottoms are held by clips...
    b13.jpg

the clip with the light housing off...
    b14.jpg

baked at about 220 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes, seemed to work well, was easy to separate lens from housing...
    b15.jpg

    sanded and prepped...
    b16.jpg

    finished article...
    b17.jpg

    reinstalled...

    less chrome :woot:

the bhl mod looks nice. just a slight accent around all the shiny bits. how's the wheel paint holding up? my wheels look like absolute shit. they need to be stripped and repainted.

2 years on and there isn't a bit of paint missing from either the wheels or bumper; I think it's all in the prep- I thouroughly cleaned surfaces and then wiped with rubbing alcohol
