Friend is looking for a new 3rd gen SR5 4x4 DCSB in Seattle area. Anybody here have recommendations on reasonable dealers willing to deal?

They're considering using the Costco program too but I told them they maybe able to get a better deal without.

Tried to talk them into waiting for a 2017 or buying a 2015 to no avail. :D

The largest is Toyota of Bellevue off I90, however willing to deal is a bit ambiguous as Tacoma's are hot in this area. It's been 1.5 years since I bought my truck, at the time nobody was really willing to "deal". I used USAA car buying service and was finally able to find the truck I wanted at an Everett dealership and called to tell them what I was going to pay, based on the USAA information. They agreed, and the rest is history.

Toyota of Bellevue has the best parts department though, really good staff there, and lots of inventory.

Yeah by willing to deal I mean fleet managers willing to go in the ballpark of $500 over invoice on a dealer allocated truck (aka "Order"). Dealers in AZ have been doing this since the truck came out.

I'm pretty sure that Costco and USAA car buying programs are all backed by TrueCar, so you can likely go to their site and plug in options for the truck with different zip codes to get an idea of what to expect. Looking at TrueCar for a 2016 TRD OR model it seems some are paying above MSRP here locally. Might be better to by in AZ and drive back assuming the inventory is there?

Yeah my dad is buddies with some of the guys in the Puyallup area...ran a Ford dealership for 30 years. May have him just call in a favor to Tight-Ass Will, or Larson. Just didn't really want to have to go there if dealers were being reasonable yet.

I don't know that they are unreasonable, people are willing to pay top dollar for these trucks here. They are really popular. I've heard of Larson but never done business with them. One thing good I've heard from Bellevue Toyota is that they'll throw in other things some dealers don't have. They are well known for adding Revtek kits if you are into that sort of thing, and they seem to have a good supply of SCS wheels they put on them. Unfortunately when I was shopping they only had two new trucks on the lot and most of what they were selling sold before they had it. Not sure how things are with the '16s now, but I've seen a surprising number of FJ's and newer Gen2 trucks on the used lots these days.

I hear you. Nobody willing to hold out and do their research should be paying more than $500 over invoice for these trucks. The Dealers still make a killing on them with dealer holdback and other fluff & overhead. The unknowing public may walk in and pay over MSRP but there's no reason to believe the dealer isn't making a decent profit at $500 over invoice.

Just keep throwin' money at it.
Toyota of Kirkland seems decent. The parts department guys have always been nice to me there. x2 on Bellevue's parts too, they are good.

I had Toyota of Bellevue at $500 over invoice on a inbound '16 6spd DCSB trdor the other day, but it was MGM and I'm a quicksand sucker.

Toyota of kirkland wanted full msrp... Nope fuck that.

I had a good experience at Toyota of Puyallup. I used their internet sales department, so I showed up, and test drove three trucks with the salesman telling me if I had any questions or wanted to test drive another vehicle, he would be inside. I like hands off salesman, so I enjoyed the experience.

Negotiating was a bit different. I was screwed with trading in a POS Passed that I was underwater on, and needed a reliable vehicle with decent resale to recover. So I really can't speak on how ToP is in that regard. I feel I walked away with a decent enough deal.

5" nerf bars. Seat cover, locking gas cap, front windows tinted, front grill plastidipped.
I would avoid Seattle area dealers who play stupid games. Vancouver Toyota wanted a deposit to "reserve" a truck for a test drive. What? Hell no.
I went to Toyota dealers in Bellingham, Lake city way, Mt Vernon, Burien and I bought mine from Titus Will Toyota in Tacoma. I worked with their internet department. Email Mike Carter and work out a deal with him. He is super nice and real easy to work with. Just do your research and send him an offer. I am sure you can do $500 plus invoice. My BS detector did not go off at all with him. BTW, I bought a white 2016 DCSB TRD OR. Give him a try for sure.
