 it looks tan though? I have a gray interior. I already made that mistake once with another interior part, don't want to make the same mistake twice.

Going to revive this thread for the few that might see it. I am looking for a tan cover for a 1996. Pretty sure any 1st gen would work though. Thanks.

I have a close to a new "Grey" OEM Shade for a 2001. I bought the truck new and took it off within the first three months and left it off. It's been sitting in my basement ever since collecting dust. I have no use for it. If anyone's interested, make me an offer and I'll see what I can do to get it out to you.

Tip for shipping: just use a flat box, slip the shade in, and tape it up flat without "making" the box. Easy peasy.

I'm also recently purchased a 2002 Taco and am looking for a replacement shade if anyone has one laying around or knows where I can find one. :)

I'm pretty surprised that this was a dealer installed options. I wouldn't figure that those bone heads would get something as prone to leak as this right.

I have a spare cover, I think it’s light gray. If I can find it I’ll post photos. My brother works for a wrecker and pulled it before the crushed the truck.

I find it hard to believe as well. I feel like it was a factory job…the roof skin on my 02 was definitely pressed and not cut. It also has all the drainage ports inside the “pan” so I really wonder if it was dealer installed.

anyway. I found my spare. The one on the left I can let go.

they are identical and mine (right one) came with my truck…2002. One on the left just has some dents in it and a little more discolor.

Pretty fascinating, this thread has spanned over a decade with the OP still contributing, truly awesome. I never knew any of this about a cover you could physically remove. Seems counterintuitive, cumbersome and awkward. My feeling with sunroofs is leave the sliding shade open, I always worry they just trap condensation and create issues.

Do you guys even use the covers?

I use mine every winter, it keeps the cold air away from your head and the heat in.
