Ok don't blast me for old question, but I have a 2014 dbl cab offroad that already have bilstien 5100 on all 4 corners and front set at 1.75 and a 3 adl in the rear. It's getting time for a new set of tires and of course I would like to go to 285's. I already have aftermarket rims with 4.5 backspacing and was thinking about setting the front to 2.5. Can this be done without the cab.chop?

I don't have a cab mount chop but I did have to trim my inner fender, and I also have aftermarket UCAs. If you are only using the Bilsteins you're gonna rub like hell.

You might rub in full turn. Find a decent shop, pay the $100 and call it a day.

It can (and does) vary from truck to truck. I did a 2" lift for a guy who put 285's on a 2014 Tacoma. He never goes off road, but it's never rubbed. A friend did 3" +, put 285 Duratracs on and cannot drive the truck it rubs so much. I've raised mine just a tic over 2-1/2". A few weeks ago, I swapped tires and wheels with a friend to see how his 285's cleared on my truck. Not one single rub WHILE I WAS ON A PAVED PARKING LOT. (would have rubbed a BUNCH if flexed)

It varies, but best be prepared to chop once you own the bigger tires.

you will definitely have to trim but the cmc might not be necessary. If it were me, get the cmc anyways

I have 285's with billies and a 2.5 inch lift all around. I rub at full lock reverse. CMC is necessary

A lot. Check out my build page.
I have 285/75/16 BFG KO2 on mine. 3 inch Fox lift, TRD bead lock wheels (4.5ish BS) and I had the BMC done and still had to lose the front mud guards, do some fender trimming up front and after my first trail run with this set up this past weekend, found that I will need to do some rear fender trimming as well due to the tires stuffing up against the fender flares when flexed. If I were to do it all over again, I might just got 265s to avoid the headache.
