I noticed today after having my 5K mile service on my '16 Tacoma DCSB, there is a "Service" app on the entune. I tried putting in the info for what was done at the dealer but couldn't put in the date. I'd type in the date, enter it, go to the type of service performed and the date would disappear. I'd try typing it in again and it wouldn't take it. How do I add in the date?

I like to keep accurate service records on all my vehicles. My last truck had complete service records for the 19 years I'd had it. The salesman told me he'd given me 1K dollars more on the trade in because of the extensive service records. If I can keep the records on the entune, fine, but at the same time I created an Excel file specifically for that reason. Wife says I'm just being "anal" keeping those records, but when she heard the salesman saying he gave us more for the trade in because of the records she's changed her tune a bit!

I think it is for setting reminders for future service. It is not for keeping past service records. As a result it will not accept past dates, only future ones.

The Toyota owners app for your phone has the records stored on it. Anytime any service is done to your vehicle and put into the system at the dealer, it will show up on that app. Also it will have any recalls listed according to your vin.
Sorry, no info about using the entune, but I am a fan of the Toyota owners app.

When I traded my Subaru in for my Tacoma I had a small binder with every thing I've ever done or had done to the vehicle in chronological order, individually in clear plastic sleeves. When I was cleaning out the car I tried to give this to the salesperson and he said they couldn't accept it because it had my personal information on the records and receipts and because of that couldn't use it or pass it along to the next owner. Ended tossing it into the trap. All that work for nothing. But it would have most likely help sell the car if I had gone the route of a private seller.

Thank you all for the responses.
I can see that being for service "reminders," just never thought of it that way. I've always kept a detailed service history on any vehicle I've owned. When I traded in my 19 year old Nissan Frontier for my Tacoma I got a trade in price I wasn't really "happy" with. Then I handed the salesman my service Excel file for the truck showing every single repair or service the truck ever had along with the gas mileage from the day I bought it, and he added an "extra" $1000.00 to the trade in. Thank you very much!

Of course over the years the wife had always told me I'm just "anal" about keeping those records, "They do nothing!" she said. Well I could see her eyes light up with the extra thousand dollars off and after we left the dealer I did make sure to do the "SEE I told you keeping those records was a good thing!" It's not often I get to "win" anything with her, so that made it all that much better! :bananadance: :D:D

The Toyota owner app is pretty good. It took about a week before the service record was updated but it's nice not having to keep the paper copies
