Do you need to bleed or do anything with the bpv when putting it in? I'm having trouble getting pressure and solid fluid to my brakes. They work but are super spongy so I know air is in there somewhere. Or do I need to prefill any of the calipers? Pretty sure the master ran dry at some point. I know all the lines are tight.

 

You always need to bleed when opening up a line.

 

Not familiar with Willwood stuff, but didn't it come with instructions?

I don't see a bleed screw on that thing. And it looks to be installed upside down, judging by the lettering on the side .

Also, what appears to be the bleed screw on that caliper is not on top. That would make it difficult to bleed properly.

Found out my problem. When I converted to disc brakes I was supposed to get a residual pressure valve instead of the bpv. The residual holds pressure to the discs. Like a $20 part. In case anyone wants to know.

 

Do explain more? So you use that valve instead of the other one you have pictured?

 

Yes, the one I put on is a bpv, brake proportioning valve. I put in a t100 axle and in the process lost the stock system, which is crap by the way. A lot of guys recommend converting to the bpv over the stock system. It's like a $20 part and gets rid of all kinds of garbage on the stock axle. Basically it adjusts the amount of brake the rear brakes receive versus the front. Like 60% to 40% as an example. So because I went to disc, discs need a constant amount of pressure. So pretty much a brake fluid resistant check valve that keeps a minimum amount of pressure on the discs. Now I need to know if I can use the bpv with the residual.

 

Yes, you need to keep both the bpv and residual that way you can still adjust the amount of brake the rear sees.

 

what did you use to attach your beaufeng radio? I have the same radio and love the cheap little bastard. been brainstorming ways to hang mine.

Well went to AutoZone and found out I have a code (po420) he said I have possible bad gas or a hole in my cat! Recommended fuel injector cleaner and a octane booster? I m thinking gas as I just filled up 50 miles ago from almost empty....

 

Check for exhaust leaks. Mine was leaking at the joints.

 

Everything from front cat to rear looks perfect no leaks of soot seen... I'm going to look up further when engine cools down a bit

 

I've got some soot and water that leaks out of joints, best fix?

 

New gaskets. I kept having that code on and off and when Toyota fixed my frame they threw new gaskets in the exhaust too.

 

My whole system is less than a year old. Everything after the header was done 6 months ago. The gaskets are fine. I'm going to tighten everything down a bit and see if that helps but if it doesn't is there anything else you might try to aid in sealing it?

 

Oh that's a different story then. Tightening it down definitely may help, after that not sure.
