Been rolling on 35s and factory gearing for a bit longer than I wanted and its time to upgrade. Catch is I have zero free time over the next couple months.

Can anyone recommend a competent shop around the Fairfield area to regear?

Thinking just gears at the moment but a complete clamshell/3rd is an option for an easier install. Throwing it out there as it might change who/where you guys recommend.

    Thanks in advance.

I've talked to several people about this same thing. Rearenend specialties in Santa Clara is highly recommended and the rearend shop in Livermore is also recommended. They may be kinda far from Fairfield but those are the two I know of. Nick (mademan925) went to the rearend shop in Livermore and he's stoked.

Thanks for the info. Livermore is only an hour and a half away but with the drive down and back twice its 6 hours on the road. At that it might be easier/quicker for me to wait until I have some free time and do it myself.

Yep...I live in SD now and my choices here are Yotamasters (Corona) or do it myself. The shops up north I recommended come highly recommended. I was thinking of taking it to them next time I'm up north but I may just go to Yotamasters down here even though they are more expensive. With gears though, you don't want just anybody doing them...gotta make sure the dude has skills.

Are you going with a front locker as well with the regear? I'm debating on that when I bite the regear bullet

Yeah leaning towards lockers as well. More up front cost but cheaper overall than having to go back in at a later date to add the locker.

    Check out the build
I went with The Rearend Shop in Santa Rosa. They know Tacoma's well and they have a guy who has a 2nd gen and the boss was telling me he's regeared his truck a few times.

Yeah it hurts more up front but is worth it if you are even thinking about it for the future. I still gotta do mine when I get regeared
