I had to say hi, missed you fuckers.

I love this site btw, although I lost my tacoma bragging rights when I traded in my 2013 4x4 dc for a F150 FX4 loaded crew cab.

I couldn't resist.. it was the best vehicle I have ever driven or owned. equal gas mileage and 365 hp, 420ftlb torque and so big and comfy with all the folding heated mirrors, navi/entertainment screens heated/cooled seats amazing sound system yada yada. Sadly divorce stripped me of my manhood and I had to leave the truck world for a while.

Now I am sure some will still give me shit for this, but I really like the new ridgeline. My 2nd gen was great offroad and thats about it other than civic like in that it was super easy to work on and had a ton of aftermarket support. What killed me is that it had rust immediately on the undercarriage, driveline vibes and the damned engine after 6 months started misfiring on idle. I know these are considered great trucks but they are also cash cows for toyota because they have no competition and they make them in mexico as cheap as possible and use the high profits to fund R&D and innovation for other vehicles, mostly the tundra and some SUV's to try to gain marketshare with more competitive market segments.

The midsize is great for me although I thought the taco was a little on the small side in the passenger area. Fantastic offroad although I (like most) am on-road 99.5% of the time or more. The new ridgeline has the standard rounded front end styling which I'm not in love with (taco has a better style for sure) but I know it's to meet international pedestrian safety requirements like the hilux and tons of other vehicles. Other than that it's like 8-10mpg better, bigger interior, better ride, features are great, cool factor like the dual action tailgate, extra storage/ice chest thingy and rear bed audio system etc. Most of the time there is nothing except a mountain bike in the bed of my truck with the ability for the occasional load of bark/home depot haul home or trip to the dump. Light truck bread and butter stuff... not work truck level utility.

I'm obviously leaning towards the Honda but other than the probably better offroad and styling does anyone have any good reasons to go with the toyota again? They are priced around the same. In any case, competition is good and hopefully will turn up the heat on toyota and make them work for their market share for the first time in more than a decade.

Sounds like you have your mind set on a Ridgeline. I say go for it man, sounds like everything you need.

On another note... Why not go back to f-150? You could probably find a good deal on a used one, maybe even a new one for the same price as the Ridgeline.

Who cares - you've already had a Tacoma - if you don't already know the answer, you should probably post the same question on a Honda forum?

The Ridgeline is not a truck. That's my issue with it, but I need a truck of some sort because I what I do with it. If you don't need a truck then the Ridgline is fine. But it isn't a truck. Trucks don't have unibodies. It isn't even an SUV like Jimmyh said. SUV's have frames. Ridgeline is a cross-over.

I know it's superficial, but you couldn't pay me to drive a ridgeline as I think they look ridiculous. I agree that you should look at the fords again and make that work. You said it yourself, best truck you've ever owned/driven. Period

Honda did a lot of things right with the new Ridgeline. I say go for it.

Is it a true truck, maybe not. But who cares, 95% of truck buyers dont NEED a truck.

My next truck will be a full size. I'm hoping Toyota gets their shit together with the Tundra, if not F150 all the way.

Would recommend a new 2016 Tacoma they seem to be bigger or a f150. Me and my dad hunt and my dad had a ridgeline and when he had to drive in the woods he would bottom out a lot it has no ground clearance he ended up getting another f150. If u get the ridgeline your offroad capability is gone

I'm stuck in a wormhole watching the 2017 Ridgeline videos now...thanks guys. I was thinking of the older design with the weird bed when I previously posted. However, I still can't help but be reminded of a Subaru Baja when I look at the new Ridgeline :/ Sure has a lot of nice features though...

    back to bone stock.
my friend is a die hard hunter with a Ridgeline. he uses that truck in some gross situations. blood guts, mud.

it works great. he has some mud terrains on it. he gets awful mileage, but he loves the thing. he carts his kids around it in most of the time and it is fantastic for him.

i would miss the low range, but honestly while hunting, i rarely use it. but when i do, it is awesome.

sorry about the divorce. ex wife got the ford?

I loved it but it's more expensive to buy and operate. I'm also commuting a fairly long way and the MPG does really add up. I'm probably open to a used F150 also but the midsize was nice. I could actually fit it in a garage.

I mean yes low range is nice but if u compare the ridgeline to a Tacoma offroad the Tacoma will go a lot farther

Agreed, but I don't use it as a work vehicle or tow/haul a lot so I am not sure I need a true truck, but for sure this is an SUV with a truck bed.

Yeah, the front end is all rounded which I don't care for but I think it looks way better than the old one. It was a little goofy. Other than the front end I think it looks nice and it's grown on me looking at it, but the taco styling wins for sure.

I ride mountain bikes twice a week, go camping with kids at least once a month and am moving some damned piece of furniture or another at least once a month.
