Overall the Tacoma has sold more than last year at this time of the year however sales are a down a bit this month compared to may of 2015 when final crop of gen 2's were still being sold. I do think this is the first time since then gen 3 was released that Tacoma sold more in the previous year.
Maybe all the gen 3 bashing is working? Haha.

Tacoma World isn't the only place where the 3rd gen has been taking a heap of criticisms. The poor reviews have been permeating social media. I think Toyota designed a pretty good looking truck with the third gen but they really whiffed on the powertrain and their QA is slipping

I think is a fair statement. Toyota had a decade to update the gen 3. They basically threw some new body panels on it, new interior, and tweaked an existing Lexus motor that was already in house. This is a textbook meaning of "resting on laurels". I do like a lot about the gen 3 however.
Toyota Tacoma Enthusiast and Tacoma World on Facebook show daily posts about people with shifting problems and low transmission fluid. Still no peep form Toyota.

As a side note. If anyone has the sense to realize gas prices will skyrocket again, now is the time to buy your fuel sipping puddle jumper for daily use.

Mid to high MPG vehicle sales are down as folks with short term memories are becoming fuel complacent and spending large on things like trucks and SUVs again.

Good buys are available in the econo market right now. Wait for the truck when the market gets glutted with today's shortsighted buyers.

My guess is the entry fee. Maybe even fleet sales. Starting to see some on the road, likely replacing the last of the '11 Rangers.

I still want a Taco, but only because it's the best option for a 6MT truck. I fully acknowledge that it drives/handles like a truck from the 1990s.

I don't know why anyone would buy a 6AT Taco right now; why add insult to injury by selecting a transmission with widespread flaws?

What does an article from January have to do with current sales stats?

Why don't they limit the Tundra production (which doesn't seem to be selling that well), and up the Tacoma production to meet demand?

If they produced more, the dealers would lose their upper hand in pricing.
I mean some here have done really well negotiating (Southeast) but honestly the dealers here in VT & NH are more like
"you don't want, there are 3 behind you that will pay, next!"

So Cal dealers are same as the VT and NH dealers... you are right on!
