*UPDATE* so I received my new suspension 2 days after this "internal failure". More pics to follow in a couple weeks.

I am planning a suspension upgrade very similar to yours. I was leaning toward the HeadStrong 3 leaf AAL really just to get all parts from one location, but was curious as to why you chose the Wheeler's?

Also, I wanted to ask if you are planning on doing anything with wheel bearings, ball joints, CV's etc while you are in there doing the suspension? My truck has just over 100,000 miles and that has got me thinking I should replace some of those "wear out" parts when I do the lift.

Again, good luck with the engine swap. I feel for 'ya especially when you've got a suspension ready to put on.

I actually just did the wheel bearings on mine a few months ago since they were bad so I'll skip that, I'll probably do brakes and rotors, as far as the other stuff goes, I have a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality haha!

I chose Wheeler's Off Road because 1. I live in Alaska so everyone charges me shipping anyway, 2. Even if I lived in the lower 48, their prices are so far under everyone else's that even with paying for shipping, you would save money, 3. Same as you, I wanted to get everything from one place, 4. They were super easy to work with, listened to what I was using the lift for and how much lift I wanted to achieve and helped me customize a package with options, 5. They assembled my coil overs for basically the price of the parts plus $20ish, 6. I got a free t-shirt since I asked :D. I would go to them time and time again. If you mention TW they may be able to give you a little bit of a discount, bigger discounts on Wheeler's house parts.

Nice. Thanks for the reply. We think alike with the if it ain't broke don't fix it mentality, but I'm also torn enough suspensions apart that if I can do it once and be done I'd like to. Unfortunately this is my first Toyota so I don't know how long some of this stuff will last. I did brake pads and rotors (original) at 95K miles so I'm not hard on stuff but as I get into more off-roading (my boys are getting old enough now) I'd feel better knowing I'm on newer parts. Anyway, I need to crawl under it and poke around. If things look good I'll run with it.

Looking forward to reading about your motor and lift experiences!

Now that all of my mechanical issues had been fixed, I finally had time to install the Bilstein 5100 Lift! It actually worked out in my favor to wait the extra month. The local Toyota dealer called me about my leaf spring recall and told me the parts were in. I asked them if they could throw my add-a-leaf on at the same time and they did it...for FREE! I lucked out with that. So my before and after picture doesn't change in the rear of the truck because the new leaf spring are already on. Super happy with how it turned out.

I love it. I've been camping in it all summer and going again this weekend. I am certain that all the tents are made in the same factory and just rebranded. It is identical to a TJM and a CVT tent I saw in person, costs a lot less though.

Let's add a new alternator to the list of things I've done to my truck :annoyed: It was an emergency and my only option was a cheap remanned AutoZone Duralast alternator. I think in a few months I'll replace that with a new one for peace of mind.

Anyone have experience with a high output alternator that can support a dual battery setup? The price difference didn't seem significant when looking at new ones, but maybe I'm not looking in the right areas...

Apparently the mean green from DC Power is crazy. But it has a price tag...
