Congrats! We used the same Chicco Keyfit 30 infant seat for all three of our girls. No complaints with it. Buckles worked way better than some cheaper ones we've used. Remember that car seats take up way more space in the backseat than you would think. I had to slide the drivers seat forward one click to make it fit. Im only 5'10",

With three kids I'm now thinking my next truck will be a fourth gen Tundra, not a third gen taco.

Chicco Keyfit 30 is the people's choice among this forum.

Chico 30 is great. We also have a peg perego- nicer fabric and it passes the European safety standards, but the baby looks more comfortable in the Chico.

Outlet, BAMF behind the grill light mount with KC HiLites Pro Halogens, KC HiLites Flex ditch lights
The diono radian rxt Would be my recommendation.
Very comfortable for my daughter and efficient with the space usage for the back seats of our trucks.

Britax Marathon is a solid choice when they get a little older but you still want them rear facing.

Love the Chicco Keyfit 30, compact, well designed, and among the lightest and smallest to not totally ruin front seat legroom.

But be aware of the new law in California, if you live here (can't tell). The law is changing January 2017. I can't find the official agency/CHP description, but here is an article about it.
    http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/California-extends-rear-facing-car-seat-6520452.php

    Bottom line:

[the new law] will extend the mandated use of rear-facing seats from the current 1-year-old requirement when it takes effect at the start of 2017. Children taller than 40 inches or weighing more than 40 pounds will be exempt.

This means the Keyfit 30 will not fit the bill past 30 lb, and simply may not fit the kid, either. For example, our dude is 10 months old yesterday, about 22 lb, and his feet are at the edge of the Chicco.

We will be looking at Dionos very soon.

If you need more room, buy the angle adjuster.

Can't go wrong, steel frame, converts to a booster for later on, I bought the back pack straps and carried it on a plane.

First time i've heard of angle adjuster so i decided to check https://www.amazon.com/Diono-60320-Radian-Angle-Adjuster/dp/B006I1QTYQ . I may need to try this out because i have one front facing and another on the way which will be (of course) rear facing. This will probably help out and getting more space between the rear facing and driver seat. Thank you!!

That fold flat feature for carrying on a plane/travel is freaking awesome.

We love our Diono as well. Wish I had it for my older girls. Last one gets spoiled I guess.
