Pre-Load - when is it too much?

    The key to getting the correct travel length for the rear is to measure. That's the only way to know you won't blow out your shocks.
    To measure the extended length jack up the rear end so the tires are off the ground and measure from the top eye bolt mount to the bottoman shock bolt on center.

    1For compression, with your truck sitting on the ground measure top eye bolt mount to bottom shock bolt on center.
    2Then measure the space between your bump stop and the place it would touch the frame under full compression. Add in however much your bumps top compresses.

    Subtract the result from measurement 2 from 1 and that is your compressed length. Get a shock with at least an inch longer compressed length.

    Kidding aside I love these truck but so $$$ to modify correctly.

    Aye that makes much more sense.:oops: Part numbers are a beautiful thing--that's actually a really good travel length. Might have throw those into the mix of possible shocks to run with my Expos. Thanks bud!:cheers:

    Still not sure I'd be comfortable with fully extending the shock. But then again depends what you're doing. Are you running the stock shock tower location?

    I hear ya. I felt the same way til I spoke with some of the off road companies. Who knows. I'm no engineer.

    Shock towers are all stock. The timbrens will compress 2/3rdish max iirc. Thought about doing the Bamf reloc but weldings not one of my skills yet.
