2004 lift?

Might seem like a dumb questing but I have a 08 Tacoma and lifting it was as easy as putting new 5100 in. My wife's cousin has an 04 4Runner and wants to lift it. Big o tires said he has to change everything in his front suspension because it's not that easy. I didn't see any option for the 5100s for an 04 4Runner. What's the best way to lift it? Just like 2.5" and he's on a tight budget too. He doesn't really take it off-road so I'm tempted just to tel him to get spacers but would rather not. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

This is what they told him. " you have to change everything because he has hydraulic shocks" aren't all shocks hydraulic?

 

Just do a search on Amazon with B010LQWXT8, there are supplier called Maxpow has a lift support for 04 4Runner, reasonable price.
