Pulled out the jump seats, seatbelts and shoulder harnesses and rear console (if
you want to call it that), sound deadened the back wall with a layer of RAAMMAT,
a layer of Ensolite, a layer of EzCool and reinstalled the PVC-Pet (which was the
ONLY factory insulation on the back wall) - reinstalled the plastic panel. Took out
the rear storage compartments and lined the floor with a layer of Ensolite and a
layer of EzCool. Applied a layer of Ensolite and EzCool to the cab’s rear posts.
Removed rear door panels and put RAAMmat on outer and inner skins and covered
the inner RAAMmat with Ensolite and EzCool. Tomorrow I think I will start on the
front doors and floorboards/firewall. I am thinking about Removing the headliner
and putting EzCool on the inner roof. Anyone take down a headliner yet? I bought
100 sq ft of Ez Cool (4' x 25' roll) from Harbour Supply (http://www.lobucrod.com/)
for $95.00. It is a 3/16" closed-cell polyethylene foam core with 99% pure polished
aluminum facings on both sides. This product is not only an effective sound deadner,
but also excellent insulation. My 2016 TRD Sport is wrapped in RAAMmat, Ensolite
and EzCool. Incidently, the EzCool is super light weight.

Yes. I have done my headliner. Used Ram and the foam. Makes a big difference in noise level when it rains (hard).

Anyone have pointers on removing the center console from a 2016 DC?

When removing the headliner, how do you open the two plastic pieces that contain the 10mm bolts. are they hinged from the top or bottom? That plastic fits very tight and is easy to mung
up if not careful. I want to insulate the roof with EzCool, I don't think I will need any RAAMmat up there. I have been real pleased with this mod so far. The truck is so quiet that I heard the
"40 mile an hour howl" everyone is talking about for the first time this morning. This truck is
so quiet now, I'm looking for a way to insulate the windows. Road noise is very, very minimal, but I now hear the wind noise coming in around the door gaskets. Gonna fix that with double sided trim tape from 3M. It may make replacing those rubber seals a pain in 10 or 15 years,
but should reduce the wind noise. My Taco is now much quieter than my wife's Avalon.

I just found out that the 2016 Access Cab does not use 10MM bolts under those plastic caps
near the front & back door junction, they use clips. I just broke one trying to get it out. The
whole unit comes out as one piece. The "seam" is not intended to be opened and there are
no hinges holding the parts together. The clip uses pressure to keep the headliner in place. I
broke the one on the riders' side trying to get it out. I haven't found out how to relieve the pressure holding the clip in place but there must be a way I have to go to the Toyota dealer Tuesday to buy a replacement for the one I broke, so I will ask someone in the body shop to show me how they remove them.

Can't wait to get started on my roof, but it looks like I'll have to wait until next weekend.
I'm going to Toyota tomorrow for some hands on instruction on taking down the headliner. Weatherman says I'll have to wait for this week's rain to pass so it is looking more like a Saturday task. The EzCool should go up quickly once the headliner is down. I'm gonna use
3M spray trim adhesive to put the EzCool up. Looking at 81Shark's pictures, I estimate the
front section is about 25" wide 48" long and the back section appears to be about 14" x 48".
2 layers of EzCool should do the trick. I just might have enough left on the roll to double
    layer the firewall and floor.

See if you can find the service manual for your year. It should have all the info. I've got my manual and tells you exactly what to do. I could just about take the entire truck apart with it

I used 3 full uncut pieces. 2 up front, 1 on the back and one sliced up. Maybe could have used one more sheet to hit a couple more spots, bit i was out at that point. Overall very pleased. Huge difference in road noise reductions and stereo sound.

The little black plastic caps on the 3rd Gen access cab headliner are not hinged and do not
contain a 10mm bolt. Robinson Toyota of Jackson TN does not have a body shop so they
referred me to the shop they recommend to customers. The shop they sent me to had no
idea how to remove the headliner on 3rd Gens. When I showed their headliner "Specialist"
the broken clip I repaired, he started to pry the thing apart at the seam - which I quickly stopped. He was unfamiliar with the device and when I showed him where it goes in the headliner, he just scratched his head. While at the Toyota dealership, I ordered two
replacements at $16.62 each. I still do not know how to properly remove the plug without damaging it, so I will wait until this weekend when the two replacements arrive. Then I
won't care if I break the one remaining in the roof. Incidentally, the nomenclature for the
item is "Plug, Assist Grip" and the part no. is: 74617-0C110-C0. It is available from http://www.trdshop.com for $7.65.
