He was a long time goal for me and is in a good home instead of a cage. Also got K laser treatments to help ease the healing (personal choice and expense). I hardly think any of that makes me a bad person but to each their own.

Bull/cattle snap. 4.125" long, safe working load of 250lb, nickel plated steel. Can be had in bronze that is slightly smaller with a load of 220lb.

There's panic snaps that have a safe working load of 180lb, 4.5" long. Nickel plated steel. Pull down on the outer sleeve to release the snap.

And the trigger snap, 170lb load, 2-5/8" long. Made of stainless steel so it has the best corrosion resistance.

Dude you've got a beautiful dog and as long as you give him a good loving home pay no mind to what people say about things that other people did to him. As you said you did not elect to have the procedure done and would not have done it if given the choice. Side note, what kind of person championing animal rights would propose cutting off someone's ears. That's some Busch league hypocritical bullshit if you ask me.

I have it on the girls' walking leashes. Took FOREVER to find a leash that has them. Don't like the "regular" snaps, since the can come undone.

    This is Annie's leash.

It's no biggie, I didn't like the situation and there was bound to be some reaction to it. Already had this chat with the vet the day after getting him. I can't really blame anyone for jumping to conclusions. Sorry for the thread sidetrack everyone, onward with the canine introductions!

I wonder if these can be had at the local feed and supply store, much better option than what I'm using now. I almost used panic snaps instead but didn't like the design.

I had to order them online since I couldn't find them local anymore. I like the two ply leashes - easier on the hands. I couldn't find them here, but it's a smaller town. You might be luckier where you are. I like the snaps, since they won't come open by accident.

I'm planning on using 1/2" diameter rubber hose as the handle. I had a paracord braided leash and it was suuuper rough on the hands. Rubber handle should fix that.

Not sure if I want to do a straight leash or one with a traffic handle built in. Traffic handle would be around 5.5' minimum length, straight would be around 4ft minimum length.

I'm going to be heading to the hardware store and see how these two snaps compare

On top of rope? :notsure: guess it could be easier on the hands than nylon leash.

I'm not a fan of the traffic handle - keeps the girls too close to where they use my feet as launching pads  also why I never walk them in anything but sneakers. :anonymous:
