image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Started out this morning with Taco and no problems. After one of my errands, I stopped to get a cup of coffee. With coffee in hand I got back into truck, started it up, foot on brake, steering wheel unlocked, emerg brake off, etc put in reverse and it wouldn't move. Then I put it in drive and still wouldn't move. I turned it off and let it set for about five minutes when I tried it again with no change. Turned off again and waited another 10 or so and tried it again at which time I got into gear. I promptly drove to my dealer and sat and waited for at least three hours only to find out that the techs found nothing wrong with it. They performed health check withtechstream, multipoint inspection, printed out a freeze frame data report etc. the service guys tells me if it happens again to bring it back. Drove home fine so we'll see.

While I was there I decided to troll the lot and was amazed to see they had at least 20 Taco's ranging from SR', both trd's, limited etc. several of them had sold sign in the window, but more were still up for grabs.

This happened to me right after my first wash, I'm assuming that the ebrake flash-rusted itself on somehow, at least it felt like the e-brake was still engaged. When it happened I got out, rocked each wheel as best I could, got in and started up again and pulled away with only slight resistance, hasn't happened since. This was with a M/T as well.

So have Camry's etc.... Toyota sales in May dropped about 5% and most other manufacturers saw drops as well. There was always a bunch of 2nd gen on lots as well so it seems like the dealers now have a normal inventory.

The lot where I bought mine currently has 1 2wd AC and 1 2wd DCSB and 1 4wd AC showing on inventory. Drove by the lot tonight the 2wd AC is the only one left.

So the salesman a couple weeks ago who told me that Tacomas are "flying off the lot" was BSing? No way.

I found very few TRD OR when I was looking for mine last month. Most dealers had 1 or none. A couple had them on order and some were pre-sold here in Northeast Texas.

X1000000. Driveline vibrations, dash squeaks, and transmissions that shift too often are one thing. A truck that won't move when it's supposed to can get you killed. That is COMPLETELY unacceptable. I'd get a dash cam, mount it behind my head so it sees the dash, shifter area and out the windshield and I'd wait for it to happen once more. ONLY once more. I'd take it back to the dealer then and immediately begin raising sand like my hair was on fire.

To the OP, did the truck feel like it was in gear but wouldn't move, held by the brakes and bound up or like it wasn't in gear at all?

    Manual or AT?

I've had sticky emergency brakes on my old trucks and have also thought it was in gear at times when it wasnt.

Do you think it was transmission related or brake related?
