Did you "air down" your tires?

Air down to 8psi. Start digging if you got a shovel. Call someone to pull you out. Only the TRD OffRoad had crawl control.

To my knowledge, Sport version does not have crawl control.

Even the most capable trucks can and will get stuck in sand (or mud). Crawl control would definitely help but like said above, it's only on the TRD OR model. Momentum and low tire pressure are your friend in the sand.

At least you are learning what not to do, hopefully. I'm guessing you had the street tires that came on the truck, that didn't help either.

Pismo is really big area that's mostly sand dunes (away from the actual beach), but yeah you definitely want to be careful if you happen to venture closer to the water. I feel bad for that dude that had that happen to his truck.

Sand can be like snow sometimes, to much gas and your sunk.

The stock sport highway tires probably don't help either. I managed to get though some pretty deep mud after it rained out in the country where my parents live but just barely. Those things don't clean out at all.

As mentioned, air down, have good tires, keep momentum when possible but don't floor it and dig in.

Also as you found out. The sport doesn't have crawl control or a locking rear diff. But it's still a very capable truck nonetheless. Sometimes you just get stuck.
