Are Air Bags Good For Heavy Loads ?

When I load my bed, the springs sag as usual ... and I plan to travel and carry a lot of gear on a long trip.

I am not sure heavier springs are the answer ... because my ride will be stiff with no heavy loads.

No off roading here ... so a lift is out.

Was thinking about Firestone Air Bags or AirLift Air Bags ???

(1) Are air bags best for my situation of intermittent heavy loads ???

(2) If not air bags ... then what is best ???

(3) If air bags are best solution ... then what brand would you get ???

(4) Do I need a re-alignment (front & back) after installing airbags ???

(5) What are your experiences with air bags and what brand ???

Any and all information and/or any suggestions are appreciated ... thanks

Probably. They can still ride just a tad rough when unloaded, even with the pressure at the minimum.

Another option would be Timbens.

I've ran airbags on a few of my vehicles over the years including a F350, Chevy 1500, and now my 2008 4Runner. It makes a huge difference in stability when hauling a heavy load in the bed and/or on a trailer. It also helps keep the headlights pointed at the road instead of the sky. My F350 and Chevy had a ton of miles on them and I never had any issues with the bags. The bags on my 4Runner are only a month old but they sit inside the coil which will eventually wear through them.

I had airlift airbags on my last Tacoma. They leaked until I removed them. Bought a Ford F-150 and put Firestone airbags on it. Worked great for 3 years, towing camper and gear. They never leaked at all. I had a cheap onboard compressor for air. The trick is never let them go below 5 psi., ambient temps will cause them change 1 or 2 psi. I can recommend the firestones, and I would install compressor. Should work fine for you. Edit: I have a 2016 Tacoma 4x4, if I keep the truck I will be putting firestones on it. I've gotta get the transmission fixed first.
