I'm new to TW, but have been a long time lurker. Well today I was driving by Toyota Marin in San Rafael and saw a 2016 Trdor 4x4 dclb in there used lot. Stopped to take a look at it and was approached by a volture (sales person). She said the truck was a dealer rental and only had 1500 miles on it. It had the primium tech package, roof rack, step tubes and rubber floor mats. The price was 37,995.

Then she saw what I was driving and started to talk trade in. I came from a 2001 Tacoma extended cab, 4x4, 5 speed, 2.7. Sr5. My truck had 242,xxx and was looking pretty beat up. She insisted that I get an appraisal, so I did. The offered me 5k for my old truck which was twice what I thought they were going to offer. I ended up making the deal and left with a semi new 3rd gen taco!!

there are two people that I try to avoid at all cost. The first are attorneys and the second are car sales men. (No offense to anyone on here that sells cars. Don't take this personal. I'm sure your all great people). So after dealing with the sales persons lame "I know exactly what you need" and some brutal negotiating tactics I ended up walking away with a semi new third gem taco. I feel like I got a fair deal.

Stoked on the new truck and would like to here some feed back and talk about future plans for this truck! I'm thinking Trdpro suspension and skids when parts are available. Also anything I should do or know about third gens?image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Sorry don't have a lot of photos on my iPhone of my old truck.

Thanks. I'm pretty stoked about it and now I'm just thinking where I'm going to go with it as far as mods.

Check your transmission fluid, tons of members including myself have had it running low. Probably the biggest thing.

Yea I worked at an oyster bar. That was on days worth of shells.

Thanks i mentioned the low transmission fluid to the dealer and they said it had been checked. It shifts fine, but I'm going to check it for myself this afternoon. Do I check it while it's Cold or hot?

Yea my old truck was a trooper. Never let me down! Expecting to have the same experience with the new truck.

Thanks I'll check out the clazzio covers.

They probably did not. Never trust a dealer. Remember there is no dipstick on the new 6speed. There is an article around here on how to do it but it can be tricky. I would just take it to the dealer and say it shifts weird and has delays when running cold. They will actually check it then.
