Just wanted to post an update on my idle issue. The problem is my 2016 Taco SR idles high when going from park into drive or reverse with foot on brake. I would describe it as lunging. Also constantly searches for gears when going down road, and feels like I'm pulling a boat behind me. Took it to the dealer to be looked at. Mechanic said he didn't experience the problem when he drove it, and nothing showed up during the computer diagnostic test. He did however tell me that they have had several customer complaints about the same issue. I called Toyota's Corp office, and they opened a case file on it. I take it this week to have the service manager take a drive with me in the truck with him, and he's also going to check the transmission fluid levels. There were 2016 Tacoma's recalled that were delivered from the factory with low transmission fluid. My truck's VIN number was not part of the recall, but it's worth checking out. In the future when purchasing a vehicle, I'll be sure to buy the prior year's model, to give plenty of time for the bugs to be worked out. Has anyone else experiencing the same issue had any luck getting it fixed? I really hope Toyota steps up and corrects the defect. I'm sure all the sporadic shifting isn't good for the transmission. I really want to love my new truck! I've only been frustrated so far...

The "lunging" is caused by turning the steering wheel when at idle. The engine revs up to compensate for the "increased need for power".

I've seen mine go from 500-1100 rpm's. Not really a great situation when you aren't expecting it (usually in tight quarters like backing into my garage).

Took it to the dealer and they said they'd open a ticket.....haven't heard a word since.
