So I'm doing some random browsing and came across this petition to repeal the Texas front license plate law.

    https://www.change.org/p/texas-law-...utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=share_petition

"Petitioning Texas State Senate and Texas House to pass a bill that will make Texas a "One License Plate" State. Eliminate the requirement to have a front license plate. Nineteen states no longer require a front license plate. Every state that borders Texas no longer requires a front license plate. There are approximately 25 million cars registered in Texas. Presently, Texas is a hybrid state in that it exempts front license plates for (1) state vehicles; (2) antique cars; (3) classic cars (at least 25 years old); (4) motorcycles; (5) car dealer's vehicles; & (6) newly purchased cars with paper dealer tag on rear. Since the six categories of vehicles listed above have only the back license plate all toll way cameras must be able to read the rear license plate. Therefore, officials saying that one must have a front license plate for Toll Roads does not pass the "acid test." Yes, front license plates are awkward and unsightly and have NO real practical purpose any more, but since automobiles no longer have an actual front bumper the "fake bumper" and "grill" are blended together and have no practical place for a front license plate bracket. If placed improperly in a grill opening the air intake is impeded by the license plate which can slightly reduce the performance and reduce the efficiency of the engine and automobile. Beginning March 2015 Texas will is no longer issuing "safety inspection stickers." This will save Texas approximately $2 million per year in materials cost. Just imagine how much the state can save by eliminating millions of front metal license plates. Contact your State Representative and State Senator and ask them to introduce and pass a bill that will no longer require front license plates. Make Texas a "One Plate State." Finally, tell your elected official that the requirement for a front license plate is NOT enforced evenly - some police officers take it very seriously and issue citations while other police officers see the requirement for a front plate as not important. The way the front plate regulation is enforced is unfair to everyone. There are far more important duties that police officers can do. The new legislature begins in January. Please contact your elected representative and ask them to repeal the requirement for front plates."

I've signed it already. I don't know how successfully it'll be - I'm not holding my breath.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
I've got a flipster on mine, so I'll keep running my front plate. Helps to cover the winch line. Plus, I've never been one of those people who get bent out of shape for having to have one, or having holes drilled into the bumper.

Oh my God yes. I have two tickets because someone hit my bracket and broke it, and I took it off. They didn't repeal them. If they think i'm paying that they can join me laughing.

If we only have one license plate. The people in prison would have nothing to do. Then they would just to rape each other

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
As much as I agree with this, it won't happen. It's a revenue stream for law enforcement and politics, they'll never get rid of these.

Support from California channelling your way.

I was wondering about this, my brother told me last Sept. it was part of the yearly law changes and we didn't need them any more.

I don't mind them but would be glad to see them go.

On a side note.....I was driving a little Lexus IS that I was flipping and came over an overpass @ 90+ mph. There sat a DPS shooting laser....she wrote me a ticket for no front plate.

Sure made me wonder about the whole "aim for the tag with laser radar" rumor.

Front plate is usually something they tack on when getting pulled over. I never had problems for years with my Corvette.

yea but didn't get a speeding ticket.....I was dreading how much it was going to cost as she walked up and said "The reason I pulled you over today is you have no front plate".

Why not just remove the front plate if you don't want it on? I haven't had a front plate on any of my vehicles and never got a ticket.
